Virginia's 57th House of Delegates district elects one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 57, consisting of parts of Charlottesville and Albemarle County, has been represented by Sally Hudson since 2020, and previously by David Toscano from 2006 to 2020, following the 2005 election in which he defeated Thomas W. McCrystal after the retirement of Mitchell Van Yahres. [1] Following the redistricting after the 2020 Census, the district was moved to include areas of Goochland County and Henrico County. In the 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election, Republican David Owen narrowly won the seat over his Democratic opponent. [2]

The 2023 Virginia House of Delegates election took place on November 7, 2023, concurrently with elections for the Virginia Senate, to elect members of the 163rd Virginia General Assembly. All 100 delegates are elected to two-year terms from single-member districts. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections were held June 20, 2023. The election saw the Democrats regain control of the House of Delegates after winning a 1-seat majority.

The 2023 Virginia Senate election was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, concurrently with elections for the Virginia House of Delegates, to elect senators to all 40 seats in the Senate of Virginia for the 163rd and 164th Virginia Assembly. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections were held June 20, 2023. These were the first elections held following redistricting as a result of the 2020 census.
