Zabiuddin Ansari 's name was listed in the list of "50 most wanted criminals sheltered in Pakistan" released by India on 21 May 2011. Vinod Kumar Choubey, KC was an Indian Police Service officer of 1998 batch who was killed in action in an encounter with naxalites in the Rajnandgaon ambush in July 2009. Choubey was posthumously awarded with peacetime gallantry award "Kirti Chakra" by Hon. President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil in March 2011.

The Maratha Kranti Morcha, loosely translated as "Maratha revolutionary demonstration" in the Marathi language, is a series of silent and pragmatic protests organized by the Maratha community in various cities across India as well as overseas. Other groups, such as religious minorities including Muslims, have also supported the Morcha. The impetus for the rallies was the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl in Kopardi village, Maharashtra, on 13 July 2016. The protesters have demanded the death sentence for the rapists. Maratha caste dominate the power and cultural structure in Maharashtra owing to their numerical strength.

The Government Railway Police, abbreviated as GRP or simply Railway Police, is the force responsible for policing railway stations and trains of Indian Railways. Its duties correspond to those of the District Police in the areas under their jurisdiction, such as patrolling, but only on railway property. While the Railway Protection Force (RPF) comes under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, GRP comes under the respective state or union territory police. The GRP's responsibility is to observe law and order on all railway property, while RPF is mainly responsible for protecting and securing all railway property. Currently, even if a crime is detected by the RPF, the case has to be handed over to the GRP for further enquiry.
Param Bir Singh is a former Indian police officer of the 1988 Indian Police Service (IPS) batch. He served as the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and the Director General (DG) of the Maharashtra Home Guard. Following the filing of extortion cases against him, he was untraceable, and was declared as absconding by a Mumbai Magistrate Court. Singh was suspended from his present position as The DG of the Home Guard because of his absence by the government of Maharashtra.
