Viswas Raghavan

Viswas "Vis" Raghavan is Executive Vice Chairman and Head of Banking at Citigroup. [1] Prior to his current role, he co-led investment banking with Jim Casey since 2020 and later served briefly as sole head of global investment banking at JPMorgan Chase.

Career

Raghavan joined J.P. Morgan in 2000 from Lehman Brothers, where he had overseen equity-linked and derivatives capital markets for Europe and Asia. [2]

At J.P. Morgan, he held several senior positions, including head of International Capital Markets and global head of Equity Capital Markets. [3]

Raghavan grew up in India and studied physics at the University of Bombay. Then, he earned a postgraduate degree in electronic engineering and computer science from Aston University in the United Kingdom. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, and worked as a systems engineer at General Signal’s European headquarters in Birmingham and in 2016 while completing his studies. In 2016, he was awarded an honorary doctorate in science by Aston University.

In a 2017 press interview, Raghavan stated that he viewed banking as a field that combines quantitative skills with practical business decision-making.
