Vladimir Drobnjak (born 5 March 1956) is a Croatian diplomat who is the current Permanent Representative of Croatia to the United Nations,since 2013.
Born in Zagreb in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia,Drobnjak graduated from the University of Zagreb Law School. He worked as a radio and newspaper correspondent from 1986 until 1992,when he joined the foreign service. His first position was Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN in New York City. Since then Drobnjak held various posts regarding Croatia's relations with the European Union. From 2012 until 2013 he was the head of the Croatian mission to the EU and then the permanent representative of Croatia to the EU after it joined. In August 2013,he was appointed the Permanent Representative of Croatia to the UN. [1] In January 2014 Drobnjak became the Vice President of the UN Economic and Social Council. [2]
The foreign relations of Croatia is primarily formulated and executed via its government which guides the state's interactions with other nations,their citizens,and foreign organizations. Active in global affairs since the 9th century,modern Croatian diplomacy is considered to have formed following their independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. As an independent state,Croatia established diplomatic relations with most world nations –189 states in total –during the 1990s,starting with Germany (1991) and ending most recently with Liberia (2024). Croatia has friendly relations with most of its neighboring countries,namely Slovenia,Hungary,and Montenegro. They maintain colder,more tense relations with Serbia as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina due to historic nation-building conflict and differing political ideologies.
The United Nations Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia,Baranja and Western Sirmium (UNTAES) was a UN peacebuilding transitional administration in Eastern Slavonia,Baranja and Western Syrmia,in the eastern parts of Croatia. The transitional administration lasted between 1996 and 1998. The transitional administration was formally established by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1037 of January 15,1996. The transitional administration was envisaged and invited in the November 1995 Erdut Agreement between the Croatian Government and the representatives of the local Serb community in the region. At the time of UNTAES deployment the region already hosted another traditional type UN peacekeeping mission known as the UNCRO. While the region was covered under the UNCRO's sector east,the whole UNCRO mission was brought into question by the Operation Storm escalation of hostilities.
Vesna Pusić is a Croatian sociologist and politician who served as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs in the centre-left cabinet of Zoran Milanović. She was Croatia's second female Foreign Minister taking the office after Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. On 3 May 2010,Šimonovićwas appointed UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights. As of 1 October 2016,Šimonovićhas been appointed as the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on the Responsibility to Protect.
Katalin Annamária Bogyay is a Hungarian ambassador,diplomat,journalist and the President of the United Nations Association of Hungary since April 2021. She has been a lecturer at the Corvinus University of Budapest since 2022,and teaching at the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy since 2021. In 2021 she founded the Women4Diplomacy movement. She served as the 15th Permanent Representative of Hungary to the United Nations in New York. The foreign,diplomatic,economic,and political relations between Croatia and the United States were established on April 7,1992 following the dissolution of Yugoslavia. After Croatia's debut as an independent state in 1996,the U.S. established the country as its most important political connection to Southeast Europe. Modern relations are considered to be warm and friendly,with stalwart bilateral collaboration. The Croatian diaspora in the U.S. is estimated to be around 500,000 which,in part,informs the foreign policy of Croatia. The two nations have strong connectivity through tourism,immigration,foreign aid,and economic mutualism. U.S. President George W. Bush approved the NATO membership of Albania and Croatia in October 2008. Croatia and the U.S. are close military allies and share a robust bilateral military-industrial complex. Their closeness has led to the U.S. housing regional intelligence agencies,such as the CIA and NSA,in Croatia. Both are members of NATO,leveraging Croatia's aerospace and defense manufacturing and U.S. military operations to advance multilateral initiatives. After the 2022 Tu-141 drone crash in Zagreb,the U.S. dispatched two F-16 fighter jets in a show of military strength for Croatia. U.S. interests in Croatia are centered on the state's stabilizing influence in the region and extending the global reach of jointly-held Western ideals.
Abdul Zahir Tanin is an Afghan diplomat who has served as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Kosovo,making him Head of the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK),since October 2015.

Samuel Žbogar is a Slovenian diplomat and politician who is the EU Special Representative in North Macedonia. He served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia from 2008 to 2012. He is currently acting Minister for Development Cooperation.
Full diplomatic relations between Croatia and Israel were established on April 9,1997 following Croatia's independence from SFR Yugoslavia. Croatia has an embassy in Tel Aviv and honorary consulates in Ashdod,Caesarea,Jerusalem and Kfar Shmaryahu. Israel has an embassy in Zagreb. Relations between the two countries are described as friendly and highly cooperative. In recent years,Croatia and Israel have intensified bilateral relations and defence and security cooperation. Croatia is one of the countries Israel occasionally turns to inside the EU to advocate on its behalf and it generally abstains or votes with Israel on key EU votes at the UN. Israeli president Reuven Rivlin described Croatia in 2019 as "Israel's strong ally in the EU,the UN and other multilateral organizations."
Croatia–Syria relations are bilateral relations between Croatia and Syria. Both countries established diplomatic relations on 29 August 1997. Croatia is represented in Syria through its embassy in Cairo in Egypt and an honorary consulate in Damascus. Syria is represented in Croatia through its embassy in Budapest,Hungary and an honorary consulate in Zagreb. Both countries are full members of the Union for the Mediterranean,although Syria suspended its membership in 2011.

She is a member of the center-left Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP) and serving as the Vice President of the Socialists &Democrats in the European Parliament with the portfolio "New Economy that works for all" in the Ninith legislature.
Andrej Plenković is a Croatian politician serving as the prime minister of Croatia since October 2016. He was previously one of eleven Croatian members of the European Parliament,serving from Croatia's accession to the European Union in 2013 until his resignation as MEP when he took office as prime minister. Plenkovićhas also been serving as the president of the Croatian Democratic Union since 2016.
Dimiter Tzantchev is a European diplomat,Ambassador,Head of European Union delegation to the State of Israel. He joined the European external action service after a long and distinguished career in the Bulgarian diplomatic service. He was Bulgaria's Ambassador to the EU,the UN in Geneva and to Israel. Tzantchev was President of COREPER II - January 1 - June 30,2018 during the first ever Bulgarian rotational presidency of the Council of the EU. One of the longest serving Permanent Representatives to EU in Brussels he was also the Dean of COREPER II from August 2017 until September 2021.
