The 2009 Summer Universiade, officially known as the XXV Summer Universiade, was celebrated in Belgrade, Serbia from July 1 to 12, 2009. Volleyball at the Summer Universiade

Volleyball tournaments have been staged at the Universiade since 1959. The men's tournament was introduced at the 1959 Summer Universiade, while the women's tournament was introduced at the 1961 Summer Universiade. After not being included in 1975 and 1989.

Philippines at the Universiade Sporting event delegation

The Philippines has participated at the Universiade debuting at the 1967 Summer Universiade. From 1967 until 2007, athletes representing the country were sent by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines with sanction from Philippine Olympic Committee. Since 2011 it is the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), a member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), that has been sending competitors representing the country at the Universiade.

Beach Volleyball competition has been in the Universiade in 2011 and 2013 as optional sport.

The Volleyball at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples will be played between 5 and 13 July. 32 volleyball teams will participate in the tournament. The indoor volleyball competition will take place at PalaCoscioni in Nocera Inferiore, Palazzetto dello Sport in Ariano Irpino, PalaSele in Eboli and PalaTedeschi in Benevento.
