Togo Renan Soares, also commonly known as Kanela was a Brazilian professional basketball coach, football coach, water polo coach, and rowing coach. He was born in João Pessoa, Brazil. The gymnasium Gávea, is named after him. He was enshrined into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2007.
Carlos José Retegui is an Argentine retired field hockey player, who is nicknamed Chapa. He was a member of the National squad from 1989 to 2006 and competed in three Summer Olympics. In 2006 he was dismissed from the national team by his former teammate and head coach, Sergio Vigil.

The United States U-20 women's national soccer team is a youth soccer team operated under the auspices of U.S. Soccer. Its primary role is the development of players in preparation for the senior women's national team. The team most recently appeared in the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France, where they failed to progress from the group stage for the first time in the competition's history. The team competes in a variety of competitions, including the biennial FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, which is the top competition for this age group.

The Brazil women's national rugby sevens team has appeared in the Olympics, the Rugby World Cup, the Women's Sevens Series, and other competitions. Brazil has won every regional championship in South America. Their team nickname "Yara" was coined in 2013, and comes from the local Tupí-Guaraní mythology. It was meant to signify the courage and collective strength of women’s rugby in Brazil and also to connect them with their country’s roots.
Brazil competed in 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada from July 10 to 26, 2015. The Brazilian Olympic Committee selected a team of 590 athletes, 314 men and 276 women. This is the 17th appearance of the country in the Pan American Games. The goal of the Brazilian Olympic Committee is to finish among top 3 countries on total medals, as part of preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics, in Rio de Janeiro, and to surpass the number of medals of Guadalajara (141). Women’s field hockey, baseball, racquetball and speed skating competitions will be the only sports without Brazilian representation at these games.
