Volodymyr Mykolaiovych Babayev [lower-alpha 1] (born on January 10, 1952) is a Ukrainian scholar and politician. He served as the rector of the Kharkiv National Academy of Urban Economy and, briefly in 2010, as the acting head of administration of Kharkiv Oblast. [1] He was a recipient of the State Prize for Architecture in 1999.

“Gaya“ were an Azerbaijani vocal quartet consisting of Arif Hajiyev, Teymur Mirzoyev, Lev Yelisovetski and Rauf Babayev. Quartet was active from 1972 to 1988. They sang in multiple languages, including Azerbaijani, Spanish, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and English in their repertoire. Gaya was formed in 1961, when Rauf Hajiyev invited musicians to work in Azerbaijan State Estrada Orchestra. Such composers as Tofig Guliyev, Fikret Amirov, Rauf Hajiyev, Vasif Adigozalov, Faraj Garayev and Tofig Babayev worked with “Gaya”.

Babayev or Babaev is a Russian, Ukrainian, Turkmen, Uzbek and Azerbaijani masculine surname that is slavicised from Turkic languages; its feminine form is Babayeva or Babaeva. The word babay (бабай) means "grandfather" or "old man" in Tatar and Bashkir. Alternatively, it comes from Arabic word "bab", which means "door". There was a name "Babullah" which meant "doorway of God" or "doorway to heaven". It was very popular among Turkic nations before Soviet times. Grandchildren of "Babs" were sometimes given "Babayev" as a surname. It was initially "Babov", but later it became "Babayev" due to the influence of Russian phonetics. The surname may refer to:
