Vondelpark were an English indie pop group, formed in 2010 in London, England. The band consists of Lewis Rainsbury, Alex Bailey and Matt Lawrenson. [1] The band is named after the public park of the same name. [2]
After signing to R&S Records, the band released their first EP, Sauna in 2010. [2] The band's second EP, NYC Stuff And NYC Bags was released in 2011. [3] This was followed by their third release, Dracula EP in 2012. [4] The band's debut album, Seabed, was released on 1 April 2013. [5] [6] [7]
On 20 January 2016, Vondelpark wrote on Facebook that band was split up. Despite that, on 16 November 2022, the band released a new single titled "Greenish" via Spotify on which all three original members are credited.
The band's music includes elements from various genres such as indie pop, [8] dream pop, [6] contemporary R&B, [1] [2] [3] [8] ambient, [5] synthpop, [3] soft rock, [6] dubstep, [2] and UK bass. [1] [8] The band draw inspiration from various musical acts such as Motown artists, [9] Robert Glasper, [9] Arthur Russell, Barry White, Herbie Hancock, and Dexter Wansel. [1] The band was also compared to numerous alternative and R&B acts, such as My Bloody Valentine, [1] [9] The xx, [3] [10] New Order, [2] The Cure, [2] Ariel Pink, [2] Drake [8] and The Weeknd. Music for Cars is the third extended play (EP) by English band The 1975, released on 4 March 2013 by Dirty Hit, Polydor Records and Vagrant Records. Development of the record began after the band completed their eponymous debut album. Working with producer Mike Crossey, the 1975 created "Chocolate" during the album's recording sessions before building the other tracks of the EP around the song. HMGNC is an Indonesian electronic and synth-pop band from Bandung, West Java. Named after Icelandic singer Björk’s 1997 album Homogenic, the band was formed in 2002 and changed the original band name to its present name in 2015. Nina Boldt, known mononymously and professionally as NINA is a German singer-songwriter based in London and Berlin. Her music is a fusion of pop, new wave, and electronic music. She released her debut album Sleepwalking in 2018 and her follow-up album Synthian in 2020. Her third major release Control was released as an EP via Lakeshore Records and features samples from Cliff Martinez's film score for Drive, which began a mainstream modern revival of the cliche 1980s music, art, and graphics scene.
