The WSF Championship, or WSF Open or WSF Open Championship is an annual snooker tournament held by the World Snooker Federation. [1]

History

The inaugural WSF Championship was held from 18 to 24 March 2018 in Qawra, Malta. The two finalists received a Main Tour Card for the 2018/2019 season while the four semi-finalists received an invitation to compete in the 2018 World Snooker Championship. Prize money for the event was €28,300. [4] Luo Honghao won the event beating Adam Stefanów in the final. [5] Kristján Helgason and Kacper Filipiak were the losing semifinalists. [6] There were 10 century breaks made in the event, with Igor Figueiredo making the highest break of 131. [7]

In 2024, Ka Wai Cheung has defeated Gao Yang 5–0 in the final to secure the title and his status as a main tour professional for the first time. [8] [9] [10]

The 2018–19 snooker season was a series of professional snooker tournaments played between 10 May 2018 and 23 June 2019. The season was made up of ranking tournaments, non-ranking tournaments and variant tournaments. In total, 54 events were competed in the 2018–19 season, beginning with the pro–am 2018 Vienna Open, and ending with the 2019 World Snooker Championship.

The 2018 WSF Championship was the first edition of the WSF Championship, an amateur snooker tournament that took place from 18 March to 24 March 2018 in Qawra, Malta. The 2019 World Seniors Championship was a snooker tournament, that took place from 15 to 18 August 2019 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England. It was the first event of the 2019–20 World Seniors Tour. It was the tenth World Seniors Championship, first held in 1991. The event had a total prize fund of £63,500 up from £18,000 the previous year, with £15,000 more for the winner, at £25,000.

Bai Langning is a Chinese former professional snooker player who, in 2023, received a ban of two years and eight months from professional competition after committing match-fixing offences.

The 2018 World Women's Snooker Championship was a women's snooker tournament that took place at the Dolmen Hotel, St. Paul's Bay, in Malta from 14 to 17 March 2018. Defending champion Ng On-yee won the event with a 5–0 win against Maria Catalano in the final. Ng On-yee won the title without losing a single frame over all six of her matches and as champion, qualified to enter the 2018 World Snooker Championship.

The 2019–20 Challenge Tour was a series of snooker tournaments that took place during the 2019–20 snooker season. The Challenge Tour was the second-tier tour for players not on the main World Snooker Tour. The top player in the final rankings earned a two-year card to the World Snooker Tour from the 2020–21 snooker season. The 2020 Shoot Out was a professional ranking snooker tournament held from 20 to 23 February 2020 at the Watford Colosseum in Watford, England. It was the 13th ranking event of the 2019–20 snooker season. It was played under a variation of the standard rules of snooker. The event was the third of four events sponsored by BetVictor, making up the 2020 European Series.

The 2021 Gibraltar Open was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 1 to 7 March 2021 at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, England. It was the twelfth ranking event of the 2020–21 snooker season, and the sixth and final event in the BetVictor European Series.

The 2024 World Snooker Championship was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 20 April to 6 May 2024. Organised by the World Snooker Tour, it was the 17th and final ranking event of the 2023‍–‍24 season. The title sponsor was car retailer Cazoo, so the tournament was promoted as the 2024 Cazoo World Snooker Championship.

Liam Pullen is an English snooker player from Yorkshire. In April 2023 he became the England under-18 snooker champion. He has earned a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour starting with 2023–24 snooker season.

Gong Chenzhi is a Chinese snooker player. In 2024, he won a place on the World Snooker Tour from the 2024–25 snooker season.

Bulcsú Révész is a Hungarian professional snooker player. He is the first ever professional snooker player from Hungary

The 2024–25 snooker season is an ongoing professional snooker season with tournaments played between June 2024 and May 2025.
