WWCD (an acronym for What Would Chine Gun Do) is the debut studio album by American hip hop group, Griselda. [4] It was released on November 29, 2019, by Griselda, Shady, and Interscope.

Background

The album is entirely produced by Daringer and Beat Butcha, and features guest appearances from 50 Cent, Eminem, Raekwon, Keisha Plum, Novel, and Tiona Deniece. WWCD was titled in-part after late-rapper Machine Gun Black, the half-brother of group member Benny the Butcher, and cousin of Conway the Machine.

Its lead single, "Dr. Bird's", was released on October 18, 2019. The second single, "Chef Dreds", was released on November 8, 2019. Upon release, WWCD debuted at number eight on the Billboard Rap Albums and number nine on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It also received positive critical reception. The album has yet to be released on physical media legitimately.

Cover

The cover of the album shows Clara Gomez, better known as Claire, a homeless woman from Buffalo, New York. The Buffalo News reported she was killed on the night of May 23, 2023 at age 58 by being hit by a car. [5]

He is the paternal half-brother of rapper Conway the Machine and cousin of rapper Benny the Butcher, both of whom he frequently collaborates with. Westside Gunn has released five studio albums in addition to an extensive catalog of mixtapes. Gunn was affiliated with Shady Records from 2017 to 2020, but has since returned to independent status.

Demond Price, known professionally as Conway the Machine, or simply Conway, is an American rapper. Alongside his paternal half-brother, Westside Gunn, and cousin, Benny the Butcher, Conway was a member of Griselda Records. On February 21, 2022, Conway announced his departure from Griselda Records.

Jeremie Damon Pennick, known professionally as Benny the Butcher, or simply Benny, is an American rapper and songwriter. He came to prominence in 2018 following the release of his debut album, Tana Talk 3. Along with his cousins and fellow rappers Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine, with which he forms the collective Griselda, he is known for his '90s inspired rap songs and is often credited with leading a revival of so called 'grimy' and 'gritty' hip hop music, influenced by mafioso and drug dealing themes.

Music to Be Murdered By is the eleventh studio album by the American rapper Eminem. It was released on January 17, 2020, through Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. Just like Eminem's previous studio album Kamikaze (2018), the album was released with no prior announcement. The album was produced by many producers, with Eminem and Dr. Dre serving as executive producers. It features guest appearances from Skylar Grey, Young M.A, Royce da 5'9", White Gold, Ed Sheeran, the late Juice WRLD, Black Thought, Q-Tip, Denaun, Anderson .Paak, Don Toliver, Kxng Crooked and Joell Ortiz. The album's title, cover art, and concept are inspired by Alfred Hitchcock and Jeff Alexander's 1958 spoken word album Alfred Hitchcock Presents Music to Be Murdered By. Griselda Records is an American hip hop independent record label based in Buffalo, New York. It was founded by rapper Westside Gunn, his brother Conway the Machine, and Mach-Hommy in 2012. In addition to the founding members, Benny the Butcher and in-house producer Daringer make up the flagship artists of the Griselda Records roster.

Production was handled by eleven record producers: Beat Butcha, Daringer, Alchemist, DJ Premier, Erick Sermon, Havoc, Hit-Boy, Khrysis, Murda Beatz, Rockwilder and Signalflow Music. It features guest appearances from Armani Caesar, Benny the Butcher, Dej Loaf, El Camino, Flee Lord, Freddie Gibbs, Havoc, Lloyd Banks, Method Man and Westside Gunn. A deluxe version was released on December 18, 2020.

Thomas Paladino, known professionally as Daringer, is an American record producer and a member of the musical collective Griselda. Daringer has been producing since 2005. He is named after the Daringer pistol, also called Derringer.

Production was handled by Beat Butcha and Daringer with Eminem and Luis Resto serving as additional producers. Its remix featuring Benny the Butcher and Westside Gunn appeared on Griselda's WWCD album.
