Wade Miquelon (born October 28, 1964) is an American business executive and former CEO of Jo-Ann Stores. He was previously an executive at Procter & Gamble and Walgreens.
Miquelon received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Purdue University in 1987 and a Masters of Business Administration from the Olin Business School in 1989. [1]
Miquelon spent 16 years with Procter & Gamble, working at the company’s headquarters in Cincinnati, as well as a combined 12 years at their international offices in Bangkok, Singapore, and Geneva. In Geneva, he served as the general manager and head of finance for Western Europe, a P&G division responsible for 30% of total P&G's sales. [2] In 2006, he joined Tyson Foods, where he was executive vice president and CFO. [3]
In June 2008, Miquelon joined Walgreens as senior vice president and CFO and was promoted to executive vice president in July 2009. [4] While at Walgreens, Miquelon was heavily involved in the acquisition of e-commerce company Drugstore.com, [5] the purchase of the New York City drugstore chain Duane Reade, [6] and the two-step transaction to acquire and merge with Alliance Boots. He, along with other executive leadership, was also involved in the development of a partnership with the blood-testing company Theranos. [7] [8] He continued to support Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes even after the Wall Street Journal exposed the company as a fraud, referring to Theranos critics as "haters" and claiming she was "going to help so many people in [her] lifetime it’s absurd." [9] In The Dropout , a 2022 Hulu miniseries about Theranos, Miquelon is portrayed by Josh Pais. [10] He left Walgreens in 2014 and filed a defamation suit over media reports of being pushed out due to miscalculating an earnings forecast. [11]
In 2019, he was named president and CEO of Jo-Ann Stores after joining the retailer in 2016 as executive vice president and CFO. [11] On May 9, 2023, it was announced that Miquelon had abruptly resigned from his positions at Jo-Ann, effective the day prior. [12]
Since 2013, Miquelon has been a member of the board of directors for Acadia Healthcare (ACHC). He is also a member of the National 4-H Council. [13]
In September 2009, he was arrested for DUI in Glencoe, Illinois, and again one year later in Kenilworth, Illinois. [14]

On December 31, 2014, Walgreens and Switzerland-based Alliance Boots merged to form a new holding company, Walgreens Boots Alliance. The company claimed that it had devised blood tests that required very small amounts of blood and that could be performed rapidly and accurately, all using compact automated devices that the company had developed. These claims were proven to be false.
Elizabeth Anne Holmes is an American biotechnology entrepreneur who was convicted of fraud in connection to her blood-testing company, Theranos. The company's valuation soared after it claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by developing methods that needed only very small volumes of blood, such as from a fingerprick. In 2015, Forbes had named Holmes the youngest and wealthiest self-made female billionaire in the United States on the basis of a $9-billion valuation of her company. In the following year, as revelations of fraud about Theranos's claims began to surface, Forbes revised its estimate of Holmes's net worth to zero, and Fortune named her in its feature article on "The World's 19 Most Disappointing Leaders".
Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. (WBA), is an American multinational holding company headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, which owns the retail pharmacy chains Walgreens in the US and Boots in the UK, as well as several pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution companies. The company was formed on December 31, 2014, after Walgreens bought the 55% stake in Alliance Boots that it did not already own. The total price of the acquisition was $4.9 billion in cash and 144.3 million common shares with fair value of $10.7 billion. Walgreens had previously purchased 45% of the company for $4.0 billion and 83.4 million common shares in August 2012 with an option to purchase the remaining shares within three years. Walgreens became a subsidiary of the newly created company after the transactions were completed. Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani is a businessman, former president and chief operating officer of Theranos, which was a privately held health technology company founded by his then-girlfriend Elizabeth Holmes. He and Holmes fraudulently represented that they had devised a revolutionary blood test that required only small amounts of blood, such as from a fingerstick. Gardner was one of the first people to be publicly skeptical of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of blood testing company Theranos, who was later found guilty of investor fraud.

Holmes, et al., was a United States federal criminal fraud case against the founder of now-defunct corporation Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, and its former president and COO, Ramesh Balwani. The case alleged that Holmes and Balwani perpetrated multi-million dollar wire-fraud schemes against investors and patients. Holmes and Balwani each had their own jury trial.
