The West Coast is a region of New Zealand on the west coast of the South Island that is administered by the West Coast Regional Council. It comprises the territorial authorities of Buller District, Grey District and Westland District. The principal towns are Westport, Greymouth, and Hokitika. The region is one of the more remote and most sparsely populated areas of the country.

The river passes through tussock, scrub and forested areas before draining into the Karamea Bight in the Tasman Sea. It passes through the town of Waimangaroa and is crossed by the Ngakawau Branchrailway, with the rail bridge brought into service in 1877. That year, the Conns Creek Branch opened, a sub-branch line that closely followed the southern bank of the river east from Waimangaroa to the foot of the Denniston Incline. It closed in 1967.
The Tasman Sea is a marginal sea of the South Pacific Ocean, situated between Australia and New Zealand. It measures about 2,000 km (1,200 mi) across and about 2,800 km (1,700 mi) from north to south. The sea was named after the Dutch explorer Abel Janszoon Tasman, who was the first recorded European to encounter New Zealand and Tasmania. British explorer Captain James Cook later extensively navigated the Tasman Sea in the 1770s as part of his first voyage of exploration.
Waimangaroa is a small town located on the West Coast of New Zealand.
The Seddonville Branch, later truncated as the Ngakawau Branch, is a branch line railway in the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island. Construction began in 1874 and it reached its terminus at the Mokihinui Mine just beyond Seddonville in 1895. In 1981 it was closed past Ngakawau and effectively became an extension of the Stillwater–Westport Line, since formalised as the Stillwater Ngakawau Line.

The Otira River is located in the central South Island of New Zealand. It rises on the slopes of Mount Rolleston in the Southern Alps, and flows north for 20 km, passing through the town of Otira before joining the Taramakau River. The Taramakau's outflow is into the Tasman Sea, 12 km south of Greymouth.
The Inangahua River is located in the northwest of New Zealand’s South Island. It is a major tributary of the Buller River, which it joins at the town of Inangahua Junction.

Before this, Cicero Avenue was previously known as 48th Avenue, owing to its City of Chicago address of 4800 West.
Buller District is one of 53 districts of New Zealand, and is within the West Coast Region. It covers Westport, Karamea, Reefton and Inangahua Junction.
Anama is a sparsely populated locality in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is on the Hinds River, with the Ashburton River not far to the north in nearby Mount Somers. Other nearby settlements include Valetta to the east, Mayfield to the south, and Montalto to the west. Anama School celebrated its centenary in March 2002.
Longbeach is a lowly populated locality in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is located in a rural area of the Canterbury Plains on the shore of the Pacific Ocean on the northern side of the Hinds River's mouth.
The Conns Creek Branch was a 2.7 kilometre branch line railway in the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island. It diverged from the Seddonville Branch at Waimangaroa and followed the southern bank of the Waimangaroa River to the line's terminus at Conns Creek at the foot of the Denniston Incline. The line operated from 1877 until 1967 and existed for the sole purpose of conveying coal from mines to the port of Westport.
Hook River is a natural watercourse in the southern Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. The river flows east from its source to the Wainono Lagoon, a fresh water lake beside the Pacific Ocean. On the way, it passes through the localities of Waiariari and Hook and is crossed by State Highway 1 and the Main South Line railway. Water from the river and an associated aquifer is used for agricultural purposes.

The Whareatea River is a river of the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows generally northwest to reach the Tasman Sea five kilometres to the east of Westport.
Buller High School is a secondary school in the town of Westport, New Zealand. The school has a roll of over 350 students, all Year 9 and above. As well as students from Westport, the school has a large number of students from nearby towns that do not have high schools of their own, such as Waimangaroa, Granity, and Seddonville. The school was founded in 1922, although has ties to earlier secondary schooling in the Buller district.
South Carolina Highway 700 is a state highway in the U.S. state of South Carolina. Known for most of its length as Maybank Highway, the state highway runs 20.38 miles (32.80 km) from a dead end in Rockville east to U.S. Highway 17 in Charleston. SC 700 connects Charleston with James Island, Johns Island, and Wadmalaw Island in southwestern Charleston County.
