Whakatane is a town in the eastern Bay of Plenty Region in the North Island of New Zealand, 90 km east of Tauranga and 89 km north-east of Rotorua, at the mouth of the Whakatane River. Whakatane District is the encompassing territorial authority, which covers an area to the south and west of the town, excluding the enclave of Kawerau.
Mount Maunganui is a major residential, commercial and industrial suburb of Tauranga, located on a peninsula to the north-east of Tauranga's city centre. It was an independent town from Tauranga until the completion of the Tauranga Harbour Bridge in 1988, which connects Mount Maunganui to Tauranga's central business district.

The East Coast Main Trunk (ECMT) is a railway line in the North Island of New Zealand, originally running between Hamilton and Taneatua via Tauranga, connecting the Waikato with the Bay of Plenty. The ECMT now runs between Hamilton and Kawerau, with a branch line to Taneatua from the junction at Hawkens. The line is built to narrow gauge of 1,067 mm, the uniform gauge in New Zealand. It was known as the East Coast Main Trunk Railway until 2011, when the word "Railway" was dropped.

The current representative is Todd Muller of the National Party, first elected at the 2014 election. The Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) is a four lane motorway in the Bay of Plenty region in New Zealand, covering 23 km from Te Maunga junction in Tauranga to Paengaroa. It was officially opened on 30 July 2015. It replaced a section of State Highway 2, improving access to Tauranga from the east and south. It became the main route for trucks heading to the Port of Tauranga from Rotorua and the eastern Bay of Plenty, and connected the Central Plateau forestry industry with the port to facilitate lumber export.
The Mayor of Tauranga is the head of the municipal government of Tauranga, New Zealand, and presides over the Tauranga City Council. The Mayor is directly elected, using the First Past the Post system. Since October 2016, the mayor has been Greg Brownless.
The Ngamuwahine River is a river of the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows initially north from its source in the Kaimai Range before turning southeast to meet the Mangakarengorengo River 19 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Tauranga. Ngamuwahine Camp is also situated on the Ngumuwahine River. Ngamuwahine Camp is leased by Tauranga Intermediate which has its students sent to the camp in the beginning and end of each year.

It stretches from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, a wide stretch of some 259 km of open coastline. The Bay of Plenty Region is situated around this body of water, also incorporating several large islands in the bay. The bay was named by James Cook after he noticed the abundant food supplies at several Māori villages there, in stark contrast to the earlier observations he had made in Poverty Bay.

The Wainui River is a river of the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows north from the Kaimai Range to reach Tauranga Harbour 10 kilometres (6 mi) south of Katikati. The catchment has 191 km (119 mi) of stream margins. 41% of the catchment remains covered in native bush, but 48% is under pasture and suffers soil erosion.
State Highway 33 (SH 33) is a New Zealand state highway in the Bay of Plenty in the North Island. It is one of two state highways that form a north-south connection between the cities of Tauranga and Rotorua, SH 33 being the most easterly of the two.
