The World Judo Championships are the highest level of international judo competition, along with the Olympic judo competition. The championships are held once every year by the International Judo Federation, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their home countries. Team competitions have also been held since 1994. The men's championships began in 1956, though the format and periodicity of the championships have changed over time. The last edition of the championships took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in 2024.
Teddy Pierre-Marie Riner is a French judoka. He has won eleven World Championships gold medals, the first and only judoka to do so, and three Olympic gold medals. He has also won five gold medals at the European Championships. He was a member of the Levallois Sporting Club before joining Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017.
Gévrise Émane is a French judoka. She was the European champion in the women's 63 kg weight class.
Varlam Liparteliani is a Georgian judoka. He has won silver at Olympic and World level.
Clarisse Bogdanna Agbegnenou is a French judoka. Competing in the −63 kg weight division she won the European title in 2013, the world title in 2014, an Olympic silver medal in 2016, and an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in July 2021.
Mami Umeki is a female Japanese judoka.
Vazha Margvelashvili is a Georgian judoka. He won gold medal at the 2016 European Judo Championships and silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the men's 66 kg event.
Barbara Matić is a Croatian judoka. She is a two-time world champion in the women's 70 kg event as well as a two-time junior world champion in the women's 70 kg division. Matić won a bronze medal at the 2014 European Judo Championships. Her younger sister Brigita Matić has also been a successful judoka on junior level.
Tsend-Ochiryn Tsogtbaatar is a Mongolian judoka.
Amandine Buchard is a French judoka. She represented France at the 2020 Summer Olympics winning the silver medal in the half lightweight event and a gold medal in the mixed team event. She is a third degree black belt.
Yoko Ono is a Japanese retired judoka.
Madeleine Malonga is a French judoka. She won the silver medal in the women's 78 kg event, and gold medal at mixed team event, at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
Kokoro Kageura is a Japanese judoka.
Andy Granda is a Cuban judoka. He won the gold medal in the men's +100 kg event at the 2022 World Judo Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He is a two-time gold medalist in the men's +100 kg event at the Pan American Games.
Saki Niizoe is a Japanese judoka. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 70 kg event at the 2022 World Judo Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She won the gold medal in the women's 70 kg event at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Tato Grigalashvili is a Georgian judoka. He is a four-time medalist, including three gold medals, in the men's 81 kg event at the World Judo Championships. He is also a three-time gold medalist in his event at the European Judo Championships.
Yago Dzhumberovich Abuladze is a Russian judoka. He won the gold medal in the men's 60 kg event at the 2021 World Judo Championships held in Budapest, Hungary.
Romane Dicko is a French judoka. In 2021, she won one of the bronze medals in the women's +78 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. She is also a two-time gold medalist at the European Judo Championships and she won gold in her event at the 2021 Judo World Masters held in Doha, Qatar.
Sanne Vermeer is a Dutch judoka. She is a bronze medalist in the women's 63 kg event at the 2021 World Judo Championships and the 2021 European Judo Championships. In 2019, she also won one of the bronze medals in her event at the European Games held in Minsk, Belarus.
