Wale Ahmed is a Nigerian politician who is a Senator from Lagos State. He currently serves as the Comisissioner for Special Duties to Lagos State Government. [1]

Early life and education

Wale was born in Agege on 3 May 1965 and attended Anwar-Ul-Islam College Agege, 1977-1982, Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, 1985-1991 and the University of Lagos, 2000-2002. [2]

Career

Ahmed was a member Lagos State Publicity Committee of the Action Congress of Nigeria for the April 2011 General Elections and subsequently served as the Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties between 2011 and 2015. [3] [4] [5]

Ahmed had a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB, BS) in 1991, Masters in International Law  and Diplomacy (MILD) in 2000 and Masters in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies (MHRS) in 2002. Until his appointment by Governor Sanwo-Olu as the Honourable Commissioner Commissioner for Special Duties, he was the State Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State. [6]

In January, 2020, Ahmed was redeployed to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs as the Honorable Commissioner where he is currently[ when? ] serving. [6]

The Lagos State Ministry of Environment is the state government ministry, charged with the responsibility to plan, devise and implement the state policies on Environmental Management.

Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru was a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice for Osun State in Nigeria. He also served as Commissioner in the Ministry of Regional Integration & Special Duties from August 2010 - November 2014. He was once a Lecturer in Osun State University November, 2014 - May 2017.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, is the 15th Oniru of Iruland. He was born to late Chief Taoreed Lawal Akapo, the Ojora of Lagos (1977-1993) and Olori Muinat Olabisi Abeni Ajasa. He is from the Ojora, Aromire, Shokun and Abisogun branch of Oniru royal families of Lagos State. He became the 15th Oniru of Iruland on 7 June 2020 after the death of Oba Idowu Oniru in September 2019. He was presented with the staff of Office by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on 7 June. 2020. Prior to his enthronement, he was the Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections will be held for state governors in 30 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but two will be held on 11 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Kogi State and Bayelsa State elections will both be held around November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Lagos State, concurrent with elections to the Lagos State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is eligible to run for re-election and has been renominated by his party.
