Collegiate wrestling, commonly referred to as folkstyle wrestling, is the form of wrestling practiced at the post-secondary level in the United States. This style of wrestling is also practiced at high school, middle school, and elementary levels with some modifications. The rules and style of collegiate/folkstyle wrestling differ from the Olympic styles of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. There are collegiate wrestling programs in almost all US states, plus Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.

Cole Konrad is an American retired mixed martial arts fighter. Konrad won a gold medal at the 2005 Pan-American Championships. He won the NCAA wrestling championships in 2006 and 2007 at 285 pounds and finished third at the 2006 World University Championships at 120 kilograms. He was the first Bellator Heavyweight World Champion.
Brent Metcalf is an American former freestyle and folkstyle wrestler. Metcalf was a three-time member of the US World Team and two-time NCAA wrestling champion at the University of Iowa.
The NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships have been held since 1928. In addition to determining the national champion in each weight class, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships also determine All-American wrestlers for each weight. The top eight finishers in each weight class earn All-American status. The top four teams earn podium and team trophy finishes.

The Beast of the East is an American high school folkstyle wrestling tournament which has taken place since 1993. Since 1997, the tournament has been held at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center.

Robert Teet is an American professional wrestler, amateur wrestler, and author. He currently competes on the independent wrestling circuit in the Great Lakes region as Rob Clooney. Teet is best known for his accomplishments in beach wrestling, where he has earned All American honors four times, an alternate for the United States wrestling team twice, and earned All World honors as a member of the U.S. wrestling team at the 2011 World Beach Wrestling Championships. Teet is also an All American in belt wrestling.
Dean Heil is a former folkstyle wrestler from Brunswick, Ohio. Heil wrestled collegiately at Oklahoma State, where he was a three-time All-American and two-time NCAA champion.
Mark John Hall II is an American freestyle wrestler and graduated folkstyle wrestler who currently competes at 86 kilograms. As a folkstyle wrestler, Hall was an NCAA Division I National champion and a three-time Big Ten Conference champion out of the Pennsylvania State University. As a freestyle wrestler, Hall was the 2021 US Open National champion, 2018 Pan American Continental champion, a two–time Junior World Champion and a Cadet World Champion.
Mekhi Kevin Lewis (born April 29, 1999) is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler. In freestyle, he was the 2018 junior world champion and the US national runner-up in 2019. As a folkstyle wrestler, Lewis is an NCAA Division I champion and ACC champion out of Virginia Tech and three-time NJSIAA champion as a high schooler.
David Aaron Carr (born March 28, 1999) is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler. In freestyle, he was the '19 junior world champion at 74 kilograms representing the United States. As a folkstyle wrestler, Carr is an NCAA Division I national champion, three-time NCAA Division I All-American, and four-time Big 12 Conference champion, the second to win his conference four times at Iowa State University. He was also a four-time OHSAA champion as a high schooler.
Myles Najee Martin is an American freestyle wrestler and graduated folkstyle wrestler who competes at 86 kilograms. In freestyle, he placed second at the '19 US National Championships and is a two-time US U23 National Champion. As a folkstyle wrestler, he was an NCAA Division I National champion, a four-time All-American and a Big Ten Conference champion out of the Ohio State University.
Gable Dan Steveson is an American professional wrestler, freestyle wrestler and folkstyle wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he is the second Olympic wrestling gold medalist to be signed by the company, after Kurt Angle.
Beau Reynald Bartlett is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler who competes internationally at 65 kilograms and collegiately at 141 pounds. In freestyle, he claimed a bronze medal from the 2021 Junior World Championships. He is currently a sophomore at 141 pounds for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
A.J. Ferrari is an American freestyle wrestler and former folkstyle wrestler who competes internationally at 92 kilograms and collegiately at 197 pounds. He was previously signed by the WWE under its NIL program. In freestyle, he claimed a bronze medal from the 2018 Cadet World Championships and was the 2020 US Junior National Champion. In folkstyle, Ferrari is a Former NCAA Division I National Champion and Big 12 Conference champion out of the Oklahoma State University, and was the top-ranked high school wrestler at the time of his commitment. Ferrari left the OSU wrestling team after local police announced he was under investigation for sexual assault. On August 3, 2022 Ferrari was charged with felony sexual battery. On October 6th 2023 this case was dismissed by the judge.
