Wayne Yearwood (born September 22, 1964) is a Canadian former professional and Olympic basketball player, who was with the Canadian national team. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he played for Team Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, along with his friend and teammate Dwight Walton, and played seven years with the Canadian national team along with Steve Nash for several years, and eight years playing professionally in Europe. Yearwood played college basketball at Dawson College, with friends and teammates Dwight Walton and Trevor C. Williams. In the United States, he played NCAA Division I college basketball at West Virginia University. He played for two years in Greek Basket League with the colors of Panathinaikos and Apollon Patras. End of the '90 he played in Switzerland for Vevey Basket and Genève Versoix Basket. Yearwood also played football as a wide receiver for West Virginia and was selected by the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League in the 2nd round of the 1988 CFL Draft. [1]

Yearwood is the head coach for the men's Division One basketball team at Dawson College in Montreal since being hired in 2003. During his time with the Dawson Men's Basketball program, coach Yearwood has won the RSEQ provincial championship twice, the most recent being during the 2022-2023 season. [2] Coach Yearwood also led his team to the CCAA National Championship three times and made it to the podium on all three appearances at the tournament. The Dawson Blues have won a gold (2007), a silver (2023) and a bronze (2022) medal at Nationals under coach Yearwood. [3]

Dwight Walton is a former basketball player from Montreal, Quebec,Canada. He began his Basketball journey at Wagar High School in 1979 under the tutelage of Don McEwen and Jim Aiken and he received his High School Diploma in 1982. Dwight then attended Dawson College, a CEGEP in Montreal, which is equivalent to the Prep School system, where he was named an All Canadian in 1986. He then attended Siena College for the 1986-87 season and was named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year. He then transferred to the Florida Institute of Technology from 1987-91, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Management and was a 3 time All American. Dwight is also in the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame, the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame and is on the Sunshine State Conference 25th Anniversary Team.

They competed in the now defunct National Basketball League in 1993, but did not complete their first season and disbanded on June 10, 1993. Olga Hrycak is a Canadian former basketball player and basketball university coach. She was a provincial championship winning coach for the Champlain College Saint-Lambert Cavaliers men's team in 1981, and worked on the staff of the Canada national men's team from 1984 to 1987, firstly as an apprentice coach and then as assistant coach. Hrycak went on to coach the Dawson College Blues to a Canadian collegiate record nine provincial men's basketball titles between 1988 and 2003. She became the first female men's university basketball coach in either Canada or the United States when she was made the first coach of the UQAM Citadins men's basketball squad. Hrycak coached the team from 2006 to 2010 Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) provincial titles before retiring from in 2015. She is a two-time CCAA Men's Basketball Coach of the Year and is an inductee of both the Canada Basketball Hall of Fame and the CCAA Hall of Fame. Inducted into the Quebec Sports Hall of Fame November 2022.
