We Are Defiance is an American metalcore band from Ocala, Florida, United States. Founded in 2009 by former Sleeping with Sirens and Paddock Park singer Brian Calzini, the band released their only album, Trust in Few , in early 2011 on Tragic Hero.
We Are Defiance was formed in April 2009 by former Paddock Park vocalist Brian Calzini. On May 13, 2009, the band posted the track "It's a Long Drive Home from Texas" on their MySpace profile. [1] It was announced to be part of the Let's Forget Regret (2009) EP, which was released on August 1. [1] The EP was produced by Tom Denney, formerly of A Day to Remember. [1] Following a slight line up change, the band released their first single, "To the Moon" on September 5, 2009 on iTunes.
We Are Defiance quickly gained a loyal fan base and announced to have inked a deal with Tragic Hero Records on May 1, 2010. [2] The band started writing on new material for their debut album. The band released a cover of B.o.B's "Airplanes" featuring Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens and Denney, on July 8; on the same say the band's then-untitled debut album was set for release "this fall". [3] The band toured with Kid Liberty between July 21 and August 9, in the U.S., [4] before shortly going on tour throughout the rest of August with Dr. Acula, Ender, and Armor for the Broken. [5] On November 29, We Are Defiance started a tour through the U.S., touring with I Am Ghost and label mates This Romantic Tragedy. [6] On December 12, it was announced the band's debut album, Trust in Few (2011), was to be released on March 15, 2011. [7]
At the beginning of 2011, the band went on the Change the World Tour touring through the U.S. together with Monsters, Legend and Dr. Acula. On that tour, the band had a van accident and singer Calzini was brought into the hospital and had to undergo surgery. [8] The reason for that crash was freezing rain. [9] Because of that crash the album's release was delayed until on March 29, 2011, instead of the planned March 15 date. Trust in Few was produced by Denney. Calzini announced that Tyler Smith of The Word Alive and Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria would be featured on one song each, on the album, but Worsnop was pulled off from being featured on the record by his label. [10] Fans were allowed to download this song at the band's campaign they started via Twitter called Tweet for a Track. [11] The album peaked at number 28 on the Billboards Heatseekers charts.
The band then went on the I Heard It First Tour with Oh, Sleeper and Like Moths to Flames from March 29 to April 6. [12] The band also played the 2011's SXSW together with Horse the Band, Letlive and For the Fallen Dreams as part of the Blood Company Showcase at the Emo's Annex in Austin, Texas. [13] In May and into June, the band went on the Never Back Down Tour with It Prevails, Life on Repeat, Affiance, and Stand Your Ground. [14] The band went on the Metal East Tour, [15] with bands Scarlett O'Hara, Casino Madrid, and Wolves Among Men, from June 29 to August 1. [16] The band went on The Beautiful & Spineless Tour, with No Bragging Rights headlining, and It Prevails, and Onward to Olympas supporting, from early August into mid September, [17] and toured through the rest of September and into mid October on the Circle of Friends Tour with Thick as Blood, Legend, and The Plot in You. [18] In December 2011 We Are Defiance headlined their first U.S. tour, the Bring Your Scarf and Jacket Tour, with support from are My Ticket Home and Wolves Among Men; the tour lasted from December 9 to 18. The band released a new single in January 2012 on iTunes, [19] entitled "Day Late, Doller Short". From February 9 to March 1, We Are Defiance started a tour through the U.S. with This Romantic Tragedy and The Last of Our Kind, [20] titled New Year to Fear Tour. [21] A month later, the band went on The Walking Revival Tour, with The Great Commission headlining, and Serianna, Convictions, and Your Memorial supporting, from April 16 to May 13. [22] On May 29, guitarist Andi Encinas stated he was parting from We Are Defiance on Facebook. The band released a new music video for "I'm Gonna Bury You Underground Eli" on June 1. [23] In August, the band co-headlined the Drink Yourself To Sleep Tour with Us, From Outside, and with City Lights and To Each His Own supporting. [24] A lyric video for "Sincerity" was released on September 28, and it was mentioned that the band were planning to record their following album later in 2012, with a projected release date of spring 2013. [25] In December, Calzini stated that the delay for a new album's was due to producer Denney being in studio with his former band A Day to Remember, whose record took longer than intended for production. [26] Calzini also stated that the band had recently brought in Evolve Management to aid the band in its future.
At the beginning of 2013, the band joined the second leg of the 3rd annual A Metal Christmas & A Heavy New Year Tour, supporting Close to Home with The Overseer, One Year Later and From Atlantis. [27] On February 14, 2013, the band premiered a lyric video for their new single, "Hurricane You". [28] In May, it was announced that the band would record a new album with producers Andrew Wade and Denney at Diamond Studios. [29] The album would be called Live & Learn, and planned to be released by Tragic Hero, with "Hurricane You" featuring on it. [29]
On April 3, 2015, the band called it quits due to personal reasons of each band member.
On September 27, 2016, the band posted a picture on their Twitter page suggesting a return in 2017. On October 14, the band announced their return and their first tour date since their hiatus, which was on February 17, 2017, in Ocala, Florida. They played another show in 2019, and they said that the final Live and Learn album would be released in its entirety.
In 2021 the band released the song "Regret" written by vocalist Jason Neil, signifying his return to the group.

Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and whose work they had read as children. They have released a total of 11 studio albums, seven EPs, a compilation album and a live DVD/CD. Their lineup remained unchanged for eleven years from December 2001 to September 2012, then consisting of lead vocalist Shane Told, lead guitarist Neil Boshart, rhythm guitarist Josh Bradford, bassist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler. In September 2012, the band had announced that Neil Boshart had been fired and would be replaced by Paul Marc Rousseau, who also joined Billy Hamilton on backing vocals. The band achieved moderate success with their second studio album, Discovering the Waterfront, which was nominated for a Juno Award and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 charts, with the following two albums charting at similar positions. Silverstein has sold over 1,000,000 albums worldwide.
Fearless Records is an American independent record label that was founded in 1994. Fearless is based in Culver City, California, and is best known for its early pop punk moments captured in the Fearless Flush Sampler and Punk Bites releases, as well as additional releases by bands such as Bigwig and Dynamite Boy; and later Sugarcult; Plain White T's; The Aquabats; Amely; and post-hardcore releases by At the Drive-In and Anatomy of a Ghost. However, the label has experimented with different styles in recent years. Acts such as Blessthefall, The Word Alive, Ice Nine Kills, Mayday Parade, Pierce The Veil, Starset, The Pretty Reckless, Underoath and The Color Morale have showcased post-hardcore, metalcore, hard rock and alternative rock bands that have emerged in recent years. Fearless Records' releases were distributed in the US by RED Distribution, but after Concord Music Group's purchase of the label in 2015, it is now distributed by Universal Music Group worldwide.
A Day to Remember is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their amalgamation of metalcore and pop-punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist Neil Westfall, percussionist/drummer Alex Shelnutt and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff.
And Their Name Was Treason is the debut studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember, released on May 10, 2005 through Indianola Records. It followed their second self-released EP, which was produced the same year. The album was the band's only release under Indianola; its success led the group sign to Victory Records. Several songs on the album were written during the band members' teenage years. Recorded in the producer's bedroom, the album contains audio excerpts from several films. The band toured in the United States to help promote the album. The album has since sold over 10,000 copies. A re-recorded version of the album, titled Old Record, was released in October 2008 by Victory. The band members later admitted that they were forced to do the re-recording at the request of label owner Tony Brummel and were given two days to do so which resulted in them only re-recording the instrumentals and leaving the vocals as it was on the original album. The reissue charted at number 16 on the Heatseekers Album Chart in the U.S.
Emarosa is an American rock band formed in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2006. The band currently consists of lead guitarist and founding member ER White and lead vocalist Bradley Walden, who joined the band in 2013. The group has undergone several line-up changes throughout its career, with lead guitarist ER White being the sole remaining founding member. Originally oriented towards post-hardcore and alternative rock, Emarosa has gravitated towards a more pop rock sound in recent years.

Jonathan Monroe Craig is a Canadian-American singer and songwriter, best known as the former lead vocalist of bands Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa, Rain City Drive, as well as the co-lead vocalist of the short-lived supergroup Isles & Glaciers. As a solo artist, he has released two studio albums, two EPs and a live album to date, and his distinct type of soul-based singing has earned him considerable acclaim.
Homesick is the third studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember, produced by Chad Gilbert and the band, and released on February 3, 2009. It was the band's second album for Victory. The album features material written while the band had been touring, which Andrew Wade helped them demo. Recording took place between October and November 2008 at The Wade Studio, located in Ocala. Featured on the album are guest vocalists Mike Hranica, Vincent Bennett and Sierra Kusterbeck (VersaEmerge). Several of the album's songs appeared on the band's MySpace profile before the release of the album.
Asking Alexandria are a British rock band from York, North Yorkshire, consisting of guitarists Ben Bruce and Cameron Liddell, drummer James Cassells, lead vocalist Danny Worsnop, and bassist Sam Bettley.
Of Mice & Men is an American rock band formed in Costa Mesa, California, in 2009. The band's line-up currently consists of drummer Valentino Arteaga, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and bassist and lead vocalist Aaron Pauley. The group was founded by former lead vocalist Austin Carlile and former bassist Jaxin Hall in mid-2009 after Carlile's departure from Attack Attack!. Carlile departed from the band in December 2016 citing that a long-term health condition prompted his exit. After Carlile's departure, the band continued to pursue creating music with Pauley as the band's bassist and lead vocalist.
Motionless in White is an American metalcore band from Scranton, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2004, the band consists of lead vocalist Chris "Motionless" Cerulli, guitarists Ryan Sitkowski and Ricky "Horror" Olson, drummer Vinny Mauro and bassist Justin Morrow. The band has stated that their band name derived from the Eighteen Visions song "Motionless and White".

The Color Morale is an American metalcore band from Rockford, Illinois, formed in 2007. The band includes vocalist/keyboardist Garret Rapp, guitarists Devin King and Aaron Saunders, bassist Mike Honson, and drummer Steve Carey. Rapp and Carey are the only two members of the original line-up that remain in the band. The group was signed to Fearless Records before they went into a hiatus in 2018. The band officially returned in March 2020. Before the hiatus, the band has released five studio albums: We All Have Demons, My Devil in Your Eyes, Know Hope, Hold On Pain Ends, and Desolate Divine.

Common Courtesy is the fifth studio album by American rock band A Day to Remember. Songs for the album were written mid-2011, with recording starting from early-2012 and going into March 2013, with mixing being handled in the same month. In between that time period, an unmixed version of "Violence " was streamed from the band's website in December 2012. The band then embarked on the Right Back at It Again Tour in March 2013, performing the new song "Right Back at It Again" at each show. From mid-August to late-September, the band released webisodes to tie-in with the album. The band performed another song that would appear on the album, "Dead & Buried", at each stop of the following House Party Tour, beginning in September 2013 and ending a month later.
Tom Denney is an American musician and record producer. He is a founding member and the ex-lead guitarist of A Day to Remember. He has since parted ways with the band and now produces at his own recording studio.
