In an interview with Billboard , Petit Biscuit said, "'We Were Young' is like a hymn to an innocent love, a beautiful love ... even a bit too beautiful to be true. We Were Young really is a big blend of my pop and electronic influences, even going to gospel on the choruses. Working together with JP on the different vocal parts of the track was a real pleasure. His particular tone brought a lot of freshness to my electronic production." JP Cooper said, "I was so excited to get in the studio with Mehdi. I'd heard some of his work and his sound I absolutely loved. Genuinely, I think this kid is a bit of a genius when it comes to electronic music. I wanted to make sure that I brought a little bit of my flavor to the track, and I think it fused beautifully. It was really interesting to try and write a classic-sounding chorus over such a modern-sounding track, and I'm super happy with how it turned out." [2]

Xenomania is an English songwriting and production team founded by Brian Higgins and based in Kent, England. Formed by Higgins with his Creative Director Miranda Cooper and Business Director Sarah Stennett of First Access Entertainment, Xenomania has written and produced for renowned artists such as Cher, Kylie Minogue, Dannii Minogue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Pet Shop Boys, The Saturdays and Sugababes. In particular, all but one of Girls Aloud's studio albums have been entirely written and produced by Xenomania. Sugababes' "Round Round" and Girls Aloud's "Sound of the Underground" have been credited with reshaping British pop music for the 2000s. Gabriella Cilmi's "Sweet About Me" and Girls Aloud's "The Promise" were named Best Single at the ARIA Music Awards of 2008 and the 2009 BRIT Awards, respectively.
Benjamin Hudson McIldowie, better known by his stage name Mr Hudson, is an English musician from Birmingham, England. First rising to prominence in 2006 with Mr Hudson and the Library, Hudson later embarked on a solo career in 2008, when he signed a record deal with American musician Kanye West's GOOD Music label. He was subsequently featured as a prominent composer on West's 808s & Heartbreak (2008). Hudson later appeared on American rapper Jay-Z’s top 10 single "Young Forever", from The Blueprint 3 (2009). Dominae is the debut studio album of American electronic duo Ejecta, consisting of Neon Indian singer Leanne Macomber and producer Joel Ford of Ford & Lopatin. The record consists of ten retro 1980s-style synthpop songs dealing with love, death and early adulthood struggles. Taking seven years to write, it was recorded in New York and Texas, beginning in the summer of 2012 and lasting 14 months, and released on November 4, 2013 by Driftless Recordings, Happy Death and Copyright Control. She enlisted a variety of producers for the album, which also features guest vocals from fellow RuPaul's Drag Race contestants: season four's Willam, and season six's Courtney Act and Laganja Estranja.
