Weekend is the second studio EP of New Zealand band Young Lyre, released on 25 November 2015.

New Zealand is a sovereign island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses—the North Island, and the South Island —and around 600 smaller islands. New Zealand is situated some 2,000 kilometres (1,200 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. Because of its remoteness, it was one of the last lands to be settled by humans. During its long period of isolation, New Zealand developed a distinct biodiversity of animal, fungal, and plant life. The country's varied topography and its sharp mountain peaks, such as the Southern Alps, owe much to the tectonic uplift of land and volcanic eruptions. New Zealand's capital city is Wellington, while its most populous city is Auckland.

Young Lyre is an Indie Pop New Zealand band formed in 2009 from Auckland. The band includes Jordan Curtis, Matt Judd, Simon Roots, Sanjay Bangs, Kiran Rai. The band's debut EP title Night Swimming was released in 2012 and was the number fifteen on the New Zealand Music chart. The band released their second EP, title Weekend in 2015. Young Lyre music style is often described as Indie Pop and Synth Pop.

Background

In the 2011, the band released their first EP, title Night Swimming . After a long period of tour and festivals, the band started to produce their second EP. On 24 May 2014, the band started their crowd funding campaign to help funding their second EP. The campaign of $2,000 meet its goal on 21 February 2015 with the total of $2,135. The EP was officially released on 27 November 2015.^[1]

Night Swimming is the first EP released by the New Zealand band, Young Lyre, released on 9 November 2012. The EP reached the number fifteen on the Official New Zealand Music Chart one week after its release.

Singles

The first single from the album, was "We Go Faster" released on 10 May 2015. The music video to the video was crowdfunded alongside the album production.^[1] Also they received the help to fund the video and the album by a New Zealand project called NZ On Air.^[2]

Singing is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice and augments regular speech by the use of sustained tonality, rhythm, and a variety of vocal techniques. Synthesizers may imitate traditional musical instruments such as piano, flute, vocals, or natural sounds such as ocean waves; or generate novel electronic timbres. They are often played with a musical keyboard, but they can be controlled via a variety of other devices, including music sequencers, instrument controllers, fingerboards, guitar synthesizers, wind controllers, and electronic drums. Synthesizers without built-in controllers are often called sound modules, and are controlled via USB, MIDI or CV/gate using a controller device, often a MIDI keyboard or other controller.

The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that usually has six strings. It is typically played with both hands by strumming or plucking the strings with either a guitar pick or the finger(s)/fingernails of one hand, while simultaneously fretting with the fingers of the other hand. The sound of the vibrating strings is projected either acoustically, by means of the hollow chamber of the guitar, or through an electrical amplifier and a speaker.

Broods is a music duo from Nelson, New Zealand, composed of Georgia Josiena Nott on lead vocals, with older brother and multi-instrumentalist Caleb Allan Joseph Nott on production and backing vocals. They released the single "Bridges", which went to No. 8 on the New Zealand single chart, and signed with Capitol and Polydor Records. Kyros is a London-based progressive and alternative rock band formed in 2012 with roots dating back to 2009. Originally a solo project of multi-instrumentalist and singer Adam Warne in collaboration with guitarist Nikolas Jon Aarland, evolved into a band setting in 2013 after the debut self-titled album was recorded and released in January 2014.

The Leers are a New Zealand alternative/indie rock band. The group released their debut album Are You Curious? on 4 March 2016.
