Wendy Jane Walker (born 1964, Manchester, Lancashire) is an actress who became well known during the 1980s for playing Susan Barlow in the ITV soap opera, Coronation Street .

She originally played the part as a child from 1970 to 1974, and after another actress portrayed the character in intervening years, she returned in 1985 as a regular character. Walker stayed in the role until late 1987. [1]

Other acting roles included The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Brass and six episodes of How We Used to Live in 1984. By 1990, Walker had retired from acting and was working as a tour operator.

In 2019, Walker stated that lives a "happy, quiet" life in Devon, UK and that she has at least one daughter.

Susan Barlow is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She made her debut screen appearance on 5 April 1965. Susan has been portrayed by four actresses since her introduction. Katie Heannau was the first actress to play the character, appearing sporadically in the 1960s uncredited. Wendy Jane Walker took over the role for 26 episodes between 1970 and 1971 and between 1973 and 1974. When the character returned, Suzy Paterson was recast in the role. She appeared in eight episodes from December 1979 until July 1981. Walker reprised the role on a permanent basis from October 1985 until November 1987. The fourth actress to play the role was Joanna Foster, who appeared in eight episodes in 2001 until the character was killed off. The character's final appearance was on 11 February 2001.

Wendy Rodwell is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Candice Leask. Leask secured the role of Wendy after sending in an audition tape in October 2021, however she was unsure if the character was right for her until she read over the script again. It was Leask's fifth audition for the show. The character was initially meant to only appear in a single episode, but Leask discovered that writers had plans to reintroduce the character the following year to coincide with producers' plans to bring in another busybody character. Leask made her debut on 2 December 2021 and returned in February the following year as a recurring character, as requested by the serial's executive producer, Jason Herbison.
