West Manchester Town Center is an open-air shopping center in West Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania, west of the city of York. It replaces the former West Manchester Mall, an enclosed, one-story shopping mall.
Crown American opened West Manchester Mall in 1981. At the time, it featured Hess's, The Bon-Ton and Gee Bee Department Stores as its anchor stores. [1] The mall also featured popular restaurants such as Chick-fil-A, Orange Julius, and McDonald's. Gee Bee later became Value City in 1992. Hecht's (later Macy's) was added in 1995. [2] Since the opening of the York Galleria mall on the eastern side of York, West Manchester Mall began to decline.
Hess's closed in 1993, with Walmart replacing it the same year. [3] To keep attracting customers, the developers expanded the mall in the late 1990s by adding, Auntie Anne's, Subway, and Regal Cinemas. Wal-Mart expanded from a discount store to a SuperCenter in 2003, displacing a hallway and closing off its mall entrance, which led to a massive decline in customers to that side of the mall. Throughout the 2000s, the mall continued to lose many stores, many of which already had locations at the York Galleria. Value City closed in 2008, and the space became occupied by Kohl's in 2010. [4] In 2011, a small tornado caused damage to the mall by shattering a skylight, blowing debris, and causing power outages. [5] The same year, Bon-Ton announced that its West Manchester store would close in January. [6]
Many shoppers believed the mostly-empty mall greatly needed to be revamped.[ citation needed ] In September 2012, the Texas-based M&R Investors purchased the West Manchester Mall for approximately $17.5 million. The group planned a $47 million renovation, which would keep the existing anchor stores and demolish the mall to create a new outdoor shopping center called the West Manchester Town Center, similar to the Hunt Valley Towne Centre in Hunt Valley, Maryland. [7] The project intends to attract national retailers and restaurants to occupy the former mall site. [8] Additional improvements are also being made, including increased visibility from US 30, an additional entrance, and a drive-through street to access the new stores. A demolition permit was filed and West Manchester Mall closed permanently in 2014 to prepare for the redevelopment. [9]
In August 2014, Macy's announced that it would close its West Manchester store. [10] Retailers such as Petco, Burlington Coat Factory, and DSW Shoe Warehouse were confirmed as upcoming tenants in the redevelopment. [11]

Hanover Crossing is mixed-use development located in Hanover, Massachusetts. It operated from 1971 until 2020 as an indoor shopping mall, and reopened in 2022 after being converted into an outdoor lifestyle center. It is anchored by department store Macy's and grocery store Market Basket. Previous anchors include A.C. Moore, Almy's, Ames, Filene's, JCPenney, Jordan Marsh, Sears, Walmart, Woolworth, and Zayre.
Walden Galleria is a regional shopping mall located in Cheektowaga, a suburb of Buffalo, New York located east of Interstate 90 and New York State Thruway exit 52 off Walden Avenue. The Walden Galleria comprises more than 1,600,000 square feet (150,000 m2) of retail space, with 170 stores on two levels, including a food court and a movie theater. In 2021, Walden Galleria was listed among the top 20 most visited shopping centers in America, attracting over 23 million visitors from the United States and Canada. The mall is owned and managed by The Pyramid Companies of Syracuse, New York, the same management firm which developed it. The mall features Macy's, JCPenney, Primark, Dick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, in addition to a 16-screen Regal Cinemas which also features 4DX.
Eastern Hills Mall is a shopping mall located 11 miles northeast of Buffalo, New York on the western border of the Town of Clarence in Erie County, New York, United States. It lies on Transit Road. The mall is north of the junction of NY-78 with NY-5, and Main Street. The name "Eastern Hills" refers to the very low hills that contribute to a slightly higher elevation than the bordering areas along the Onondaga Escarpment. Eastern Hills Mall is part of a long commercial strip on Transit Road. Currently the mall is anchored by JCPenney, Raymour & Flanigan, Orvis, and Niagara Emporium.
The Millcreek Mall or Millcreek Mall Complex is a one-level shopping center 3.4 miles (5.5 km) southwest of downtown Erie, Pennsylvania, between Peach Street and Interstate 79, in Millcreek Township. The mall is the fourteenth largest shopping mall in the United States, and, with 195 stores, Millcreek Mall is currently the third largest shopping mall in Pennsylvania.
Washington Crown Center is a 676,000 square-foot regional enclosed shopping mall in North Franklin Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, just outside the city of Washington and south of Pittsburgh. The mall's anchor stores are Marshalls, Ollie's Bargain Outlet, and Rural King. There are two vacant anchors that were once The Bon-Ton and Hollywood Theaters. A third former anchor, Sears, has been partially filled by a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram dealer, though a portion of the former department store remains vacant.

Greengate Centre is an open-air power center in Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 30. The center opened in 2005 on the site of the defunct Greengate Mall, which was demolished in 2003. Greengate Centre currently encompasses over 430,000 square feet (40,000 m2) of retail space, and more than 45 stores and restaurants. Anchor stores include Jo-Ann Fabrics, Petco, Ross Dress for Less, and Walmart. It also contains dozens of smaller retailers such as Five Below, GameStop, Lane Bryant, General Nutrition Centers, Oshkosh B'gosh, and Verizon Wireless. The Kroenke Group of Columbia, Missouri owns and manages the shopping center.

Lynnhaven Mall is an enclosed super-regional shopping mall in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. It opened in August 1981. At 1,170,000 square feet (109,000 m2) of gross leasable area, it is the largest mall in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area of southeastern Virginia and one of the largest malls on the East Coast. The mall contains more than 180 stores, including Dillard's, JCPenney, and Macy's as main anchor stores. Other stores and junior anchors at the mall include Apple, Barnes & Noble, Dick's Sporting Goods, L.L. Bean, XXI Forever, H&M, and Old Navy. Phillipsburg Mall was an indoor shopping mall located along U.S. Route 22 in Warren County, New Jersey, United States. Despite its name, the mall was actually located on the border of Lopatcong Township and Pohatcong Township, just east of Phillipsburg.
Nittany Mall is an enclosed regional shopping mall in College Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, serving the State College area. It is located at the intersections of Route 150 and Route 26, one mile off the I-99 corridor. It is uniquely situated within four miles of the Pennsylvania State University, allowing the mall to attract both area residents as well as college students. Current anchor stores are Dunham's Sports, Gabe's and Rural King.
Richland Town Center is a power center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 219 at Elton Road and Theatre Drive. The center opened in 2004 on the site of the former Richland Mall. Existing from 1974 to 1998, Richland Mall was an enclosed shopping mall whose anchor stores were Sears, Kmart, and Penn Traffic; Sears later became Hills and then Ames, while Penn Traffic later became Hess's and then The Bon-Ton. Richland Mall was shuttered in 1998 after losing business to The Johnstown Galleria which opened in 1992. Richland Mall was then torn down and redeveloped as a strip mall, which features Walmart, TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, Best Buy, and Ulta as its anchor stores.

The York Galleria is an enclosed shopping center that is located just northeast of York, Pennsylvania at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Pennsylvania Route 24. The mall features the traditional retailers Boscov's and Marshalls, in addition to Hollywood Casino York and PA Fitness. As of 2023, the mall includes a number of prominent specialty retailers such as American Eagle Outfitters, H&M, Rue21, Francesca's, The Children's Place, and Victoria's Secret.
