"Wetin We Gain" is a song by Nigerian singer and songwriter Victor AD. It was released by ETIN Records on June 17, 2018. [1] The song peaked at number 3 on Africa Charts' list of the "Surprise Nigerian Hit Songs of 2018". [2] The accompanying music video for "Wetin We Gain" has garnered over 12 million views on YouTube.

Composition

"Wetin We Gain" focuses on themes of materialism and material success. Victor AD described the song as a "hustler's anthem" and said it is based on his personal experiences; he also characterized it as a conversation between God and himself. [3] According to the sheet music published at yallemedia.com, "Wetin We Gain" is written in the key of G#major with a tempo of 64 beats per minute. The song follows a chord progression of G# - C# -D#. [4] [5]

Music video

The official music video for "Wetin We Gain" was uploaded to YouTube on July 27, 2018; it was directed by Adindu Collins. An alternative video, featuring a live performance of the song, was released to YouTube on January 19, 2019. [6]

Reception

"Wetin We Gain" received positive reviews from music critics. Joey Akan of The Guardian called it an "aspirational song" and said it represents "the Nigerian dream". [7] Pulse Nigeria's Ehis Ohunyon commended Victor AD for "narrating the daily fears of the average Nigerian" and praised the song for "weaving its way into cultural sentiments without passing any judgement". [8]

"This Is Nigeria" is a song by Nigerian rapper Falz, released on 25 May 2018. It is a cover of Childish Gambino's "This Is America". Falz's father Femi Falana performed background vocals on the track. "This Is Nigeria" addresses a number of societal issues prevalent in Nigeria, including SARS brutality, codeine abuse and unrestrained killings. The music video for "This Is Nigeria" runs for a total of three minutes and 43 seconds. It was directed by Prodigeezy and produced by Wande Thomas.

Moral Instruction is the fourth studio album by Nigerian rapper Falz. It was released on January 15, 2019, by Bahd Guys Entertainment. The album was recorded in Nigerian pidgin and samples musical recordings from Fela Kuti. Its production was primarily handled by Sess, with additional production from TMXO, Willis, and Chillz. The album features collaborations with Demmie Vee, Chillz and Sess. Moral Instruction addresses societal issues such as corrupt politicians, corruption, police brutality, prostitution, social injustice and internet fraud. The album's release was preceded by "Talk", a socio-conscious record that addresses critical events. The cover art for Moral Instruction was created by Nigerian artist Lemi Ghariokwu, a long-time Fela collaborator. The album won Best Rap Album and Album of the Year at The Headies 2019.

It features guest vocals from English musicians J Hus, Lily Allen and Mabel. The album's production was handled by Speroach Beatz, Cracker Mallo, Fresh VDM, Kiddominant, DJ Coublon, Phantom, Northboi, Killertunes and Lussh. A Good Time is the second studio album by Nigerian singer Davido. It was released on November 22, 2019, through Davido Music Worldwide, RCA Records and Sony Music. The album features guest appearances from Chris Brown, Summer Walker, Gunna, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Dremo, Peruzzi, Popcaan, Zlatan, Yonda, Wurld and Naira Marley.
