White Panda, formerly styled The White Panda, is an American music group, best known for remixing and releasing mashups. [1]
White Panda was formed when two friends, both from Los Altos, California, [1] began producing and performing together as "The White Panda" after creating music on their own at separate colleges. [2] The White Panda were part of a second generation of mashup artists gaining popularity on college campuses and music-streaming websites. [2]
They began a national tour in July 2011, [2] visiting the University of Delaware, and sharing the stage with Flo Rida, Wale, Sam Adams, [3] and True 2 Life Music at Cornell University. [4] Their live shows featuring black and white suits, with glowing LED panda masks. [5] They continued touring, particularly at universities, such as Swarthmore College, where they were the student choice to headline the 2014 Large Scale Event (LSE). [6]
They were a mainstay of the Firefly Music Festival's dance scene by 2016, having played The Woodlands dance music stage more than any other group at that time. [3]
White Panda released the single "Blood on the Dance Floor x Dangerous" on September 6, 2017, in support of the Michael Jackson compilation album Scream, which charted at 47 and peaked at 41 on Billboard's Dance Songs Chart. [7] [8]
In 2018, it was announced on their Facebook page that White Panda was continuing as a solo act. [9]
White Panda released the albums Versus in 2009, Rematch in 2010, Pandamonium in 2011, Bambooyah! in 2012, Bearly Legal in 2013, The Pawprint in 2015, and Nightcub in 2021. [10] [11]
A mashup is a creative work, usually a song, created by blending two or more pre-recorded songs, typically by superimposing the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the instrumental track of another and changing the tempo and key where necessary. Such works are considered "transformative" of original content and in the United States they may find protection from copyright claims under the "fair use" doctrine of copyright law.
Dance Gavin Dance is an American rock band from Sacramento, California, formed in 2005. It consists of vocalist Jon Mess, lead guitarist Will Swan, clean vocalist and rhythm guitarist Andrew Wells, and drummer Matthew Mingus. The band formerly included lead vocalists Jonny Craig, Kurt Travis, and Tilian Pearson, and the lineup has changed numerous times since their inception. Owl City is an American electronic music project created in 2007 in Owatonna, Minnesota. It is one of several projects by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam Young, who created the project while experimenting with music in his parents' basement. Owl City developed a following on the social networking site MySpace, like many musicians who achieved success in the late 2000s, before signing with Universal Republic Records, now Republic Records, in 2008.

Justin David Blau, better known by his stage name 3LAU, is an American DJ and electronic dance music producer. Raised in New York and Las Vegas, 3LAU left Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied finance. Odesza is an American electronic music duo originating from Bellingham, Washington. It consists of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight, known individually as Catacombkid and BeachesBeaches. They formed in 2012, shortly before Mills and Knight graduated from Western Washington University.

Oh Wonder are an English, London-based alt-pop duo consisting of Anthony Vander West and Josephine Vander West. Since releasing their debut album, they have seen international success with their alt-pop singles. Oh Wonder recorded and released one song a month for a year, starting in September 2014. All of the songs were released together as a self-titled debut album on 4 September 2015. On 14 July 2017, the duo released their second album, Ultralife. The song premiered in December 2015 and was released for digital download on the iTunes Store as a single, before being re-released on February 26, 2016. The song was written by Desiigner and the track's producer was Menace. "Panda" was heavily sampled by GOOD Music labelmate and founder Kanye West for "Pt. 2", a song on West's seventh studio album The Life of Pablo, and inspired a number of remixes. The single received a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. A music video was released on May 10, 2016. It was nominated for Best Hip Hop Video at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
