Scream is a compilation album [1] by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released on September 29, 2017. [2] [3] The album compiles songs around a Halloween theme. It is the eleventh release by Sony and/or Motown since Jackson's death on June 25, 2009.
A 17-second teaser was released on Michael Jackson's official Facebook page and YouTube Vevo page [4] on September 6, 2017, just after a 3D version of the 1983 "Thriller" short film premiered in Venice, Italy. Later that day, the album was classified as a "Halloween album" with mysterious theme songs. [5] [6] [7] [8] The track "Blood on the Dance Floor x Dangerous (The White Panda Mash-up)" became available for purchase in digital format. Another track, "Thriller (Steve Aoki Midnight Hour Remix)" was also released digitally on September 29. However, this remix was not included on the album.
The album received mixed reviews with most reviews criticizing the album's tracklist. Joel Garcia from Evo News highlighted the fact that a few songs actually are Halloween-related, while other songs ("Leave Me Alone", "Scream", "Unbreakable", among others) have little to nothing to do with the theme of the album: "[The rest of the songs] are instead about either failed relationships or Jackson’s thoughts on the media." [9] On a similar note, Dan Weiss from Consequence of Sound questioned the inclusion of said songs, but he praised the inclusion of lesser-known tracks (including "Somebody's Watching Me"). [10]
It debuted at number 28 in France, [11] selling 3,300 units. [12] In the United States, it debuted with 14,000 units, including 11,000 from pure album sales, in its first week of release, charting at number 33 on the Billboard 200. [13]

Thriller is the sixth studio album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Jackson, released on November 29, 1982, by Epic Records. It was produced by Quincy Jones, who had previously worked with Jackson on his 1979 album Off the Wall. Jackson wanted to create an album where "every song was a killer". With the ongoing backlash against disco music at the time, he moved in a new musical direction, resulting in a mix of pop, post-disco, rock, funk, synth-pop, and R&B sounds. Thriller foreshadows the contradictory themes of Jackson's personal life, as he began using a motif of paranoia and darker themes. Paul McCartney appears on "The Girl Is Mine", the first credited appearance of a featured artist on a Michael Jackson album. Recording took place from April to November 1982 at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California, with a budget of $750,000.
Bad is the seventh studio album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Jackson. It was released on August 31, 1987, by Epic Records, nearly five years after Jackson's previous album, Thriller (1982). Written and recorded between January 1985 and July 1987, Bad was the third and final collaboration between Jackson and producer Quincy Jones, with Jackson co-producing and composing all but two tracks. Jackson adopted an edgy look and sound with Bad, departing from his signature groove-based style and high-pitched vocals. HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I is a double album containing the ninth studio album and first non-Motown greatest hits album by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released on June 20, 1995. It was Jackson's fifth album released through Epic Records, and the first on his label MJJ Productions. It comprises two discs: HIStory Begins, a greatest hits compilation, and HIStory Continues, comprising new material written and produced by Jackson and collaborators. The album includes appearances by Janet Jackson, Shaquille O'Neal, Slash, and the Notorious B.I.G. The genres span R&B, pop, and hip hop with elements of hard rock and funk rock. It was released on May 20, 1997, by Epic Records, and is the second album also released by Jackson's own record label, MJJ Productions. The album is made up of eight remixes from Jackson's ninth studio album, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I (1995), and five new songs. Jackson was heavily involved with the production of the new material while the remixes were produced by other artists. Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix incorporates R&B, pop, industrial, hip hop, house, funk and new jack swing. It concerns themes such as drug addiction, sex, relationships and paranoia.
