Susan Bysiewicz is an American politician and attorney who is the 109th lieutenant governor of Connecticut,serving since January 9,2019. She previously served as the 72nd secretary of the state of Connecticut from 1999 to 2011. She was briefly a candidate for governor of Connecticut in 2010,before dropping out to run for Connecticut Attorney General. She was disqualified from running for the office by the Connecticut Supreme Court and announced in 2011 that she was running for the United States Senate in the 2012 election to replace the retiring Joe Lieberman. She lost the Democratic primary to U.S. Representative Chris Murphy,who went on to win the general election.
Edward Miner Lamont Jr. is an American businessman and politician serving since January 2019 as the 89th governor of Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party,he served as a Greenwich selectman from 1987 to 1989 and was the party's nominee for the United States Senate in 2006,losing to incumbent Joe Lieberman.
Route 154 is a state highway in Connecticut running for 28.24 miles (45.45 km). It serves as one of the main thoroughfares in the town of Old Saybrook,intersecting twice with U.S. Route 1. North of I-95,Route 154 runs parallel to Route 9,along to the west bank of the Connecticut River. The route ends in Middletown at Route 9.

William Morten Tong is an American lawyer and politician who is the 25th and current Attorney General of Connecticut. Born in Hartford,Connecticut,Tong attended Brown University and the University of Chicago Law School. He began his career as an attorney with the law firms Simpson Thacher &Bartlett and Finn Dixon &Herling. In 2006,Tong entered politics upon winning election to the Connecticut House of Representatives to represent the 147th district,which includes most of North Stamford. He served six terms in the House from 2007 to 2019. During this period,Tong chaired the banking committee from 2011 to 2015 and the judiciary committee from 2015 to 2019.

The 2010 United States Senate election in Connecticut was a midterm election which took place on November 2,2010 to decide a Class III Senator from the State of Connecticut to join the 112th United States Congress. Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Dodd suffered from dropping approval ratings in the past few years due to major controversies,leading him to announce in January 2010 that he would retire,instead of seeking a sixth term. As Dodd was a Democrat,Richard Blumenthal,incumbent State Attorney General,announced on the same day that he would run for Dodd's seat. The Connecticut Democratic Party nominated Blumenthal on May 21. Businesswoman Linda McMahon won the state party's nominating convention and the August 10 Republican primary to become the Republican candidate. This was the first open Senate seat in Connecticut since 1980 where Dodd was first elected. Blumenthal was the only non-incumbent Democrat to win a non-special election in 2010.
Tony Hwang is an American real estate agent and politician. A Republican,he is a member of the Connecticut State Senate,for the 28th District,which covers parts of Fairfield County. Previously,Hwang as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives for the 134th District in the Connecticut General Assembly. Hwang became a state representative in 2008 and won re-election in 2010 and 2012. He was elected to the state Senate in 2014 and subsequently reelected. He is the assistant Senate Minority Leader.

He had served on the Vernon Town Council and was the deputy mayor of Vernon from 2005 to 2007. In 2009,McCoy was one of six mayors in Connecticut chosen by the Governor M. Jodi Rell to work closely with state officials and lawmakers to identify savings and recommend mandate relief to help close Connecticut's state budget shortfall. McCoy served as mayor of a municipality that holds town meetings to pass the mayor's yearly proposed municipal budget,which can then be sent to referendum for approval by privately cast ballot. During McCoy's two terms as mayor of Vernon he proposed and passed four municipal budgets. The Town of Vernon municipal budgets during McCoy's terms as mayor resulted in the municipal tax rate or mil rate needed to fund the municipal budget being reduced in the 2008–2009,2009-2010 budgets,the 2010-2011 tax rate or mil rate remained the same. In the 2011-2012 budget the tax rate was cut which resulted in a taxes cut to the taxpayers in the Town of Vernon,Connecticut. The 2011–2012 budget proposal was passed and adopted at the annual town meeting as opposed to being sent to referendum.
The 2018 Connecticut gubernatorial election took place on November 6,2018,to elect the next governor and lieutenant governor of Connecticut,concurrently with the election of Connecticut's Class I U.S. Senate seat,as well as other elections to the United States Senate in other states,elections to the United States House of Representatives,and various state and local elections. This race's Democratic margin of victory was the closest to the national average of 3.1 points.
The Metropolitan District Commission of Connecticut (MDC) is a public not-for-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide potable water and sewer systems to the Hartford area. The original agreement tied together the water systems of Hartford,Bloomfield,Newington,Wethersfield,and Windsor,later adding West Hartford,Rocky Hill,and East Hartford to its membership. As of 2023,the MDC serves much of the Greater Hartford region,reaching nearly 500,000 residents in its eight member cities and towns as well as parts of East Granby,Farmington,Glastonbury,Windsor Locks,South Windsor,and Portland. The Commission is run by a 29-member board of commissioners;17 of which are appointed by the member towns,eight by the governor,and four by legislative leaders. The current Chairman of the MDC Board is William A. DiBella.

William Haskell is an American politician and a former member of the Connecticut State Senate,representing District 26 from 2019 to 2023. The district includes the towns of Redding,Ridgefield,Wilton,and parts of Bethel,Weston,Westport,and New Canaan. The 26th District has not been represented by another Democrat since 1973. Haskell is a member of the Democratic Party,and was a member of the State Senate Democratic Caucus.
The 2018 Connecticut Senate election was held on November 6,2018,concurrently with the elections for the Connecticut House of Representatives,to elect members to the Connecticut General Assembly. All 36 seats in the Connecticut Senate were up for election. The election resulted in Democrats expanding control in both chambers of the Connecticut General Assembly,ending the split control in the Senate,that had been in place since the 2016 elections. Primary elections were held on August 14,2018.
