Wong Xiang Yi is an artist from Malaysia, born in 1987. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), finishing her bachelor's degree of art in the Fine Arts Department in 2010. In 2016, she completed her master's degree of Fine Arts, majoring in Chinese Ink Painting, in Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA).
She is notable for her artwork related to "Boy's Love" (BL). Due to the Influence by the Japanese comics "BL", Wong expresses her dissatisfaction on the current society's gender differentiation system with her brushes, showing the desire for Utopian love.
Wong's artwork are published and appreciated in numerous exhibitions, held in Hong Kong, Taipei and London respectively. With her distinctive style and perspectives, Wong also gains the recognition by the industry and wins significant awards.
Wong Xiang Yi was born in Malaysia but instead, she studied and grew up in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Therefore, she is deeply affected by different culture of arts from different places. In Malaysia, there are limited resources for her to know more about art. When she started her bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in Hong Kong, she earned a brand new way of understanding and exploring art due to the different culture and social value. Besides, she was able to reach the information related to Japanese popular culture, which mainly contributes to shape her value judgement.
With the support of family, Wong is determined in her art career. As a young contemporary artist, Wong has been passionate in devoting and showing her significance to the Hong Kong contemporary art, by participating in exhibitions in Hong Kong throughout the past few years.
Wong's creation is deeply affected by Japanese pop culture (manga), especially “Boy's Love” (which is also called YAOI in Japanese) Her works is inspired by her feminist tendencies. She takes particular offense at the notion that her current exploration of gender, sexuality and ambiguity must stem from some level of female gender related dissatisfaction. However, there is no negativity reflected in her creation. Indeed, she aims to provide neutral idea to let audience imagine and interpret in their unique way. Through Wong's creation, we can see her focus on fantasy and love (the “love-imagination”), romance and the ambiguity. She always paint boys in a soft and weak expression because she believes gender is not the main focus while human are medium of transferring emotion. [1] For the medium that Wong used, she is good at using Gongbi as she believes it is the most suitable tool to express her feeling on the canvas. Wong mentions in her interview with the Arthongkong.net, "However, to me it is the simplest and most honest of the styles to adopt in order to present the mental state (internal emotion) of an artist." [2] Gongbi undeniably is a painting technique that has long tradition and history, like other Chinese painting styles. Wong uses this traditional painting method, with her fabulous skills to reflect her unique contemporary thinking. This shows her significance, of reserving Gongbi, such a traditional tool of China. At the same time, her unique thinking also brings to the society a different point of view.
Starting to study Fine Arts in the CUHK, Wong started her path to become an artist in 2006. Throughout the 11 years of being an artist, Wong participated in a total of 23 exhibitions, in terms of solo and joint exhibition, including 3 solo exhibitions. Wong shows her active participation in the art industry since she participated in at least one exhibition every year, consecutively in 10 years since her first exhibition in 2007.
Wong has been unique in terms of her artwork and especially her perspective of seeing love and gender, and her talent is recognized by the art industry. She has won numerous awards in the previous, including significant awards such as the Hong Kong Chinese Meticulous Painting Association Creative Award in 2009 and the Grotto Creation Awards (2010). Last but not least, in 2014, Wong has been one of the brilliant and promising artists on the "100 Painters of Tomorrow", written by Kurt Beers, published by Thames & Hudson, which implies the recognition and the appreciation from the international committees. The 100 Painters were chosen based on their artwork, among around 4300 applicants, [3] which can show how talented and brilliant she is and how she can stand out from the crowd of artist in the dimension of Contemporary art.

The Free Ai Weiwei street art campaign was a series of protests during the PRC government's secret detention of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei for 81 days in 2011, organised by Hong Kong artists and art supporters. Various slogans calling for the immediate release of the artist such as "Free Ai Weiwei", and "Who's afraid of Ai Weiwei" accompany stencilled images of Ai were applied onto pavements, pedestrian overpass, and building walls all over Hong Kong, and similar posters and signs were displayed worldwide.
Au Hoi Lam is a Chinese painter. She has won several awards including the Nokia Arts Awards (2000) and the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2013 – Award for Young Artist.
Doris Wong Wai Yin, is a Hong Kong born artist, working with various types of media such as paintings, sculpture, collages, installations, videos and photography. Through her works, she explores her internal conflicts, raising and answering questions about her journey of motherhood, fears, and struggle with self-doubt.
Kacey Wong is a Hong Kong visual artist and educator – formerly Assistant Professor at the School of Design, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Wong has received the Hong Kong Contemporary Arts Award by the Hong Kong Art Museum (2012), Best Artist Award (2010); and Rising Artist Award and Outstanding Arts Education Award (2003). Wong is politically engaged through his art, and is founding member of art-activist groups Art Citizens and the Umbrella Movement Art Preservation.
The K11 Art Foundation (KAF) is a non-profit art foundation based in Central, Hong Kong, named for an eponymous shopping centre and established by the shopping centre's operator. It supports the development of Chinese contemporary art from Greater China by providing creative incubation platforms.
Eddy Chan Kwan Lap is a modern Chinese ink painter. He finished a certificate course in modern Chinese ink painting and was awarded a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in fine arts. His works are in the collections of both local and overseas museums and art institutes, such as the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Shanghai Foreign Culture Exchange Association (China), Daegu Culture and Art Centre, and the 1997 Mountain Lake Collection.

Leung's work is subjective and personal as she uses her art to comment on urban city life and its related issues in a witty and imaginative way. Leung's works reflect her strong desire to confront conventional habits and beliefs in order to present new perspective and provoke alternative interpretations of modern life.
Wu Siu Ping, Evan is a Hong Kong artist specializing in contemporary Chinese ink painting, paper art and mixed media. She works in the Graphic Design of advertisement in Hong Kong.
Winnie Siu Davies is a Hong Kong-born artist specialising in sculpture, oil painting, Chinese painting and Chinese calligraphy. She received her BA from the University of Hong Kong, majoring in Fine arts and received an MA in Design from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Later, she moved to Italy to study the art of marble sculpture. Her works have been exhibited locally and internationally in places such as Hong Kong University Museum, Macau, Mainland China, Taiwan, Italy and Canada. At present, she is a founding president of the studio Joy Art Club and President of Hong Kong Oil Painters' Guild (HKOPG) and Founding Chairman of Club 4 Art.
Out of Context is a self-organized art exhibition in Hong Kong that took place from 9 to 10 October 1987 at a now-demolished Eu family mansion on 15 Kennedy Road. Co-curated by Christine Loh, Hugh Chiverton and Lianne Hackett, and presented in association with the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the exhibition displayed works by twenty-one artists, artist groups and practitioners, ranging from painting, sculpture, photography to installation, performance and video art. Out of Context provides a glimpse of the contemporary arts scene in Hong Kong during the '80s, filling in a period in Hong Kong art history that is often not widely documented and circulated. In addition, taking place three years after the signing of the Sino–British Joint Declaration, a historical moment for Hong Kong, some of the works expressed concerns towards the 1997 Handover from a cultural perspective.
"Performing Society: The Violence of Gender" was an art exhibition, hosted in Tai Kwun, Hong Kong from 16 February to 28 April 2019. The artist panel was held on 7 March 2019. It discussed how the themes of gender and violence intersect.

Wong Kit Yi is a conceptual and performance artist who lives and works between Hong Kong and New York. She is known for her research-based projects, which blend art with science. Gallery, the Elizabeth Foundation, and the Queens Museum in New York; Para Site and a.m. space in Hong Kong; and Surplus Space and ART021 in China.

Firenze Lai Ching Yin is an artist, an illustrator, an editorial designer and the co-founder of Hulahoop Gallery of Hong Kong. She is a graduate from the painting program of Hong Kong Art School (HKAS). Her works frequently depict anonymous figures as subjects, and explore the issues of psychological landscapes, the mind and body, human relationships, collectiveness, and social experiences and space. Her paintings were exhibited in various international locations including the 10th Shanghai Biennale (2014), the 2015 New Museum Triennial, and the 57th Venice Biennale (2017), as well as different local venues such as Para Site and Tai Kwun Contemporary. Another medium that she worked closely with are sketches and drawings, which she compiled in several published monographs along with selections of her paintings. Her illustrations are also known to be featured regularly in Mao Pao Weekly.
Mizuki Nishiyama is a mixed Japanese artist based in New York City and London.
The Department of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong, was founded in 1957 as part of New Asia College.
May Fung is a filmmaker and visual artist who is based in Hong Kong, her work is acquired by institutions such as M+. In her early years, she worked as a civil servant at the Home Affairs Department. She has been engaged in experimental filmmaking and video art, especially during the 1970s and 1980s. Later, she integrated indie video art into theatre. She took on numerous roles in local cultural development. She once worked as a manager in the Hong Kong experimental theatre company Zuni Icosahedron, and as a consultant for the Hong Kong Arts Centre.
Videotage is a Hong Kong-based non-profit art organisation dedicated to nurturing emerging media artists and the development of the local new media art community.
Chu Tat-shing is a Chinese sculptor and visual artist. He is known for his sculpture of Bruce Lee at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. He has also made sculptures of Sun Yat-sen on display in Hong Kong and Hawaii. The sculptures at the SARS Memorial in Hong Kong Park were made by him.
