The World Oza, sponsored by ToyotaDenso of Japan, was regarded as the newest international tournament, the first sponsored by a Japanese company.

Chinese Taipei The tournament was held every 2 years. The first rounds were knockouts, and the final match is a best-of-three. The winner's purse is 30,000,000 Yen ($285,000) and a new Toyota car that is worth almost 10,000,000 Yen ($95,000).
As of June 16, 2009, the Nihon Ki-in has confirmed that the Toyota & Denso Cup World Go Oza has been canceled by the sponsors.

Cho Chikun25th HoninboHonorary Meijin is a professional South Korean Go player and a nephew of Cho Namchul. His total title tally of 75 titles is the most in the history of the Japanese Nihon Ki-in. Cho is the first player to hold the top three titles—Kisei, Meijin, and Honinbo—simultaneously which he did for three years in a row. Cho is the first in history to win all of the "Top 7" titles in Japan which he achieved by winning the Oza in 1994. Cho U in 2011 and Iyama Yuta in 2013 would duplicate this feat, both by winning the Kisei. He is also one of the 'Six Supers' Japanese players that were most celebrated in the late twentieth century, along with Rin Kaiho, Otake Hideo, Takemiya Masaki, Kato Masao and his classmate and arch-rival Kobayashi Koichi. He is the author of several books on Go.
Cho U is a Taiwanese professional Go player. He currently ranks 6th in the most titles won by a Japanese professional; his NEC Cup win in 2011 put him past his teacher Rin Kaiho and Norimoto Yoda. Cho is the first player in history to have held five of the top seven major titles simultaneously with Iyama Yuta being the second. Cho U, Naoki Hane, Keigo Yamashita and Shinji Takao make up the group of players in Japan called the "Four Heavenly Kings". His wife is one of Japan's best female go professionals, Izumi Kobayashi, the great Kitani's granddaughter and daughter of Kobayashi Koichi.
Yuta Iyama Kisei, Honinbo, Meijin is a Japanese professional Go player. In April 2016, he became the first player in Japanese history to hold all seven major titles simultaneously. In January 2018, Iyama became the first professional Go player to be awarded Japan's People's Honour Award.

The Singapore Weiqi Association is a Go association in Singapore. Founded in 1981, it aims to promote the game of Go in Singapore and improve the skills of local Go players. To achieve its objective, professional players from China are hired to conduct lessons, and tournaments are regularly organized. Amateur players in Singapore can have their rank assessed by the association; it awards rank diplomas up to 6 dan. For international exposure and networking, the association sends players to participate in international competitions such as World Amateur Go Championship and World Youth Go Championship. Currently, the association has two clubhouses: the main clubhouse in Bishan and the city clubhouse in Bugis.
The North American Toyota-Denso Cup - World Go Oza was a qualifying tournament for the now defunct Toyota-Denso Cup. Since the second running of the event, the sponsors invited North America to send two representatives to the world championship tournament.

The Australian Go Association (AGA) is the national governing body for the ancient oriental sport of go in the country of Australia. It was founded in 1978 by Clive Davies of the Sydney Go Club, Neville Smythe of the Canberra Go Club, and Bill Leveritt of the Brisbane Go Club, joined in 1982 by Melbourne and some year after that by Adelaide. Andrea Carrie “Annie” Drews is an American professional volleyball player who plays opposite for the United States women's national volleyball team. She has played professional club volleyball in Puerto Rico, Italy, Turkey, and Japan. Drews was elected as the Most Valuable Player of the 2019 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League in Nanjing, China, where USA won the gold medal and the Best Opposite of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup as part of the silver medal squad. She currently plays for Japan V.League Division 1 (V1) team JT Marvelous in the 2020–2021 season for the second year in a row. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where the USA team won the gold medal.
