Wow received positive reviews from critics noted at review aggregator Metacritic. It has a weighted average score of 81 out of 100, based on nine reviews. [1]
In The Line of Best Fit , Joe Creely gave Wow an 8 out of 10, calling it "looser, giddier and full of real joy" than the artist's previous work, naming it "her finest work yet" and emphasizing how fun the listening experience is. [2] In Loud and Quiet , this was chosen for Album of the Week, with critic Theo Gorst also giving it an 8 out of 10 for being "an expression of gleeful fun" and "2023’s funnest record". [3] Writing for Paste , Devon Chodzin states that Kate NV "breaks conventions to maximize fun" and calls the listening to Wow "a rewarding experience that leaves one grinning ear to ear"; he rates it 8.1 out of 10. Pitchfork Media's Sophie Kemp gave this album a 7.6 out of 10, calling this "pop music for people who enjoy both Karlheinz Stockhausen and Lisa Frank" and writing that the musicianship remains "rigorous" alongside being playful. [5] In The Skinny , Patrick Gamble gave Wow four out of five stars, writing that it "blurs the line between intentional and incidental noise to celebrate the sonic richness of everyday life and the ability of sound to trigger memories" and "there’s an edge to this music that ensures it’s never merely wacky". [6] In Slant Magazine , Paul Attard writes that the experimental album has Kate NV "function[ing] more as a court jester than a musician throughout Wow, where the listener is never quite allowed in on the joke—and the album is all the better for it" and he gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. [7] Stereogum featured this as Album of the Week, where James Rettig calling it a collection of "transcendent whirrs of saxophone and blooping synthesizers, there are pops and splats and slaps, door creaks and toy squeaks and the chitter of birds in the morning". [9] In Uncut , Piers Martin gave this album a 7 out of 10, for making "a zany world of pixelated pop for her avatar Kate NV to stumble around, dazed and amused". [8]

Puberty 2 is the fourth studio album by American indie rock singer-songwriter Mitski, released on June 17, 2016, the first release through Dead Oceans. It was produced by longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland. Upon its release, Puberty 2 received widespread acclaim from music critics, with many praising Mitski's emotional delivery and lyrically complex themes, which include longing, love, depression, alienation and racial identity. The album was preceded by the lead single "Your Best American Girl" on March 1, 2016, alongside the announcement of the album, and the second single "Happy" on May 3, 2016. A music video for "A Burning Hill" was released on October 11, 2016, followed by a tour covering North American and Europe.

Ekaterina Yuryevna Shilonosova, known professionally as Kate NV, is a Russian singer, songwriter, record producer, and designer. Alongside her solo career, she is a member of the Moscow-based rock band Glintshake. Her debut solo album Binasu was released in 2016, followed by для = FOR in 2018 and Room for the Moon in 2020. In 2022, looking to raise funds for charity, she released her fourth album bouquet. Her fifth album, Wow, was released in March 2023. In June 2023, she released the collaborative album Ticket to Fame with Angel Deradoorian as the duo Decisive Pink.
World Wide Pop is the second album by London-based indie pop band Superorganism, released on 15 July 2022 by Domino Recording Company. The album features guest appearances from musicians Chai, Pi Ja Ma, Stephen Malkmus, Dylan Cartlidge, Boa Constrictors, and Gen Hoshino. The album is the group's first since the exit of members Ruby, Robert Strange, and Emily, the latter of whom was caught in controversy in 2019 after filing restraining orders against two women who spoke out against him. The album was followed by an EP of remixes by artists including Lewis OfMan, DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ, and the band themselves, released by Domino 28 October 2022.
