Antigua and Barbuda is a sovereign island country in the West Indies. It lies at the conjuncture of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean in the Leeward Islands part of the Lesser Antilles.

Millicent Percival was an Antiguan and Barbudan politician and former President of the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda. She served as President of the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda from 21 March 1994 to 26 February 2004. She was also a leading member within the women's groups of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union and the Antigua Labour Party. She was accorded an Official Funeral at the St. George's Anglican Church in Fitches Creek on 11 November 2016.

(2012), and the young adult novel Musical Youth (2014), which was runner-up for the Burt Award for Caribbean Literature. She was named by Literary Hub as one of "10 Female Caribbean Authors You Should Know". An advocate for the development of the arts in Antigua and Barbuda, she founded the Wadadli Youth Pen Prize in 2004.
Bertha Alexandrina Higgins was an Antiguan artist, musician, teacher and politician. She was appointed to the Senate of the West Indies Federation in 1958, becoming the first female parliamentarian from Antigua and Barbuda.
Maria Vanessa Bird-Browne is a politician in Antigua and Barbuda. She was elected as a member of the House of Representatives for St. John's Rural East in the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda in 2018, becoming the youngest lawmaker in the country and the youngest female member of parliament across the Commonwealth. She is the country's minister for housing, lands, and urban renewal.
Heather Doram is an Antiguan artist, actor, activist and educator, who is the designer of Antigua & Barbuda's national costume. In 2002 she was awarded the Grand Cross of the Most Illustrious Order of Merit (Antigua) in recognition of her lifetime achievements.
