Ya Hero Ya Mero is the debut studio album by German rapper Mero. The album was released on 15 March 2019, through Groove Attack TraX.

Contents

The album produced three singles, "Baller los", "Hobby Hobby" and "Wolke 10", all of which reached number one in Germany and Austria. [1] Every single was supported by a music video. The album debuted at number one in Germany and entered the album charts in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Background

In 2017, Mero started gaining popularity by posting rap tracks on his social media, especially on Instagram. To date, his account attained over one million followers. [2] In May 2018, he was signed to the label Groove Attack TraX by rapper Xatar. [3] His debut single "Baller los" was released in November 2018 and instantly reached number one in Germany and Austria. [4] [5] [6] Ya Hero Ya Mero was announced alongside the single release. [7] Over the course of the next four months, he released two more singles, "Hobby Hobby" and "Wolke 10", both of which reached number one in Germany and Austria. [4] [5] [6] On 21 February, Mero released a teaser promoting the album. [8] Upon release, all of the album tracks entered the German single charts with three of them ("Jay Jay", "Träume werden wahr" and "Wie Buffon") reaching the Top 10. [5]

"From Zero to Hero" is a song by German recording artist Sarah Connor. It was written and produced by Rob Tyger and Kay Denar from her fourth studio album, Naughty but Nice (2005). The song was released on 7 March 2005 as the album's second and final single and moreover served as the European theme song for the 2005 20th Century Fox animated film Robots, in which Connor voiced the character of Cappy. Also serving as the official song for the 2005 German Red Nose Day campaign, it became Connor's fifth number-one hit, making her the only German female artist to have ever had four consecutive number-one hits on the German Singles Chart.

Xatar

Giwar Hajabi, better known by his stage name Xatar, is a German entrepreneur, publisher, rapper and producer of Kurdish descent. He is also founder and owner of the labels Alles oder Nix Records and Groove Attack TraX, and was the managing director of the now closed company Kopfticker Records. Through his labels, he promoted hip hop musicians such as SSIO, Schwesta Ewa, Kalim, Eno, Mero, and Sero el Mero. In addition to his musical activities, Xatar expanded his entrepreneurial work with the hookah lounge Bar Noon, the tobacco brand Orijinal and jewelry and clothing design for Massari. He authored his autobiography Alles oder Nix: Bei uns sagt man, die Welt gehört dir in 2015.

Written by Enes Meral (Mero) and produced by Josh Petruccio, the track acts the second single for his debut studio album Ya Hero Ya Mero (2019). An accompanying music video for the song was directed by Plug, Jakub and Tatjana of the 100Blackdolphins and uploaded by onto Mero's YouTube channel simultaneously with the single's release. Commercially, the single debuted atop the German single charts and broke multiple streaming records, including the most streams in Germany within one week, accumalating nearly ten million streams.
