Yahya Black (born April 21, 2002) is an American college football defensive tackle for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Early life

Black attended high school at Marshall located in Marshall, Minnesota. Coming out of high school, Black was rated as a three star recruit, where he decided to commit to play college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. [1] [2]

College career

During Black's first collegiate season, he notched three tackles with half a tackle being for a loss. [3] [4] In week four of the 2021 season, Black forced a fumble as he helped the Hawkeyes to a win over Colorado State. [5] In the 2021 season, Black totaled 18 tackles, two pass deflection, and a forced fumble. [6] [7] Black finished the 2022 season, recording 11 tackles with one and a half being for a loss, a sack, and two pass deflections. [8] In week seven of the 2023 season, Black notched four tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a safety, in a win over Wisconsin. [9] During the 2023 season, Black started all 14 games for the Hawkeyes where he tallied 51 tackles with five being for a loss, three and a half sacks, and five pass deflections. [10] [11]
