Yancey's Fancy is a producer of artisan cheeses based in Corfu, New York, USA. The company was formerly known as Darn Good Foods, Inc. [1] The Yancey's Fancy name was established in 1998 when John Yancey (whose family operated Heluva Good!) and his long-time business associate Mike Wimble bought the Kutter's Cheese business and factory from Richard and Tony Kutter, who retired. [2]
The Kutters' father, Leo, founded the Kutter Cheese Factory in 1926 in Cowlesville, New York. After ceasing operations because of the shortage of fresh milk during World War II, Leo moved the company to Corfu in 1947. The factory with its outlet store is located on NY Route 5, nearly halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, New York. [3]
Yancey’s Fancy cheese factory produces a variety of different flavors. The company utilizes the local milk supply in western New York when crafting its products. [4]
Yancey's Fancy won a gold medal at the 2010 World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison, Wisconsin, for 'Best of Class, Jalapeño & Peppadew Cheddar. [5] ' The cheese also won a 2010 New York State Fair Grand Champion award. [6]
Yancey's Fancy is a major athletic sponsor of the Buffalo Bills (NFL), Buffalo Sabres (NHL), and the Rochester Americans (AHL). The company did sponsors Watkins Glen International constantly for the Finger lakes Wine Festival, which has been listed by the American Bus Association as one of North America's Top 100 events for 2011, 2012, and 2013. Cheese is a dairy product produced in wide ranges of flavors, textures, and forms by coagulation of the milk protein casein. It comprises proteins and fat from milk. During production, milk is usually acidified and either the enzymes of rennet or bacterial enzymes with similar activity are added to cause the casein to coagulate. Beecher's Handmade Cheese is an artisan cheesemaker and retail shop with locations in the Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington and New York City's Flatiron District. The company was founded by Kurt Beecher Dammeier in 2003 and opened in the Pike Place Market after Dammeier obtained a difficult to obtain storefront lease in the Market. Because Dammeier had never been a cheesemaker, he sought out the assistance of Brad Sinko, who helped run a family cheese-making business in Oregon. A second location was opened in 2011 in the Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.

Heluva Good! is an American company specializing in cheeses, chip dips, sour cream and condiments. It has been a subsidiary of dairy company HP Hood LLC since the acquisition of Crowley Foods in 2004. The primary offices for the company are in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. Heluva Good! products are sold in grocery stores throughout much of the United States and Canada. A Heluva Good! Country Store was located in Wallington, New York, just east of the village of Sodus which first opened in 1980. All cheese products were packaged at a plant in Sodus, New York. Both locations closed on June 26, 2015.
