Ryan grew up in Norman, Oklahoma, and attended Norman North High School. She played for the club team Oklahoma Celtic. As a freshman, she led Norman North to their first-ever girls soccer state championship. [3]

Ryan played for Oklahoma City and was named to the club's all-time Best XI. [5]
Ryan was drafted at No. 6 overall by the Portland Thorns in the 2021 NWSL Draft. Ryan was the Thorns' "top target". After they attempted to trade into the #4 draft position, the Thorns eventually traded two later picks plus an international slot to move up to select Ryan. [6] Ryan appeared in the starting lineup for the Portland Thorns in the 2022 NWSL Championship Final on October 29, 2022. [7]
On January 5, 2023, Ryan was traded to NJ/NY Gotham FC as part of a three-team trade. [8] She made the most appearances for Gotham of any player in the 2023 season. [9] She started in the 2023 NWSL Championship Final, in which Gotham defeated OL Reign 2–1. [10]
The Houston Dash announced on December 7, 2024, that they had acquired Ryan from Gotham in exchange for $80,000 in intra-league transfer funds, $400,000 of allocation money, and a 2025 NWSL international roster spot. [11]
Ryan made two appearances for the United States under-18 team in April 2018 [12] [13] and three for the under-23 team in April 2019. [14] [15] [16]
She received her first call-up to the senior national team in October 2024 for the team's Olympic gold medal victory tour. [17] Ryan earned her first cap on October 24, 2024, in a 3–1 victory over Iceland. [18]
