The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations, and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.

Emiliya Khalsberiyevna Turey is a Russian handballer who plays as a left wing. She is a three-time World Champion, silver medalist of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the 2006 European Championship, and bronze medalist of the 2008 European Championship, all with the National Team of Russia. She also won the EHF Champions League in 2007 and the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2009 as a club player. Turey is of Sierra Leonean descent through her father.
Mariya Igorevna Sidorova is a Russian handball player, playing on the Russian women's national handball team. She won the gold medal with the Russian winning team in the 2007 World Women's Handball Championship. She played for 11 years in Lada Togliatti, before moving to Zvezda Zvenigorod in Summer 2012.
Nadezhda Konstantinovna Muravyova (Russian: Надежда Константиновна Муравьёва is a Russian team handball player in the Russian women's national handball team. She was born on June 30, 1980, in Bratsk, Russia. She won a gold medal with the Russian team in the 2007 World Women's Handball Championship. At the 2008 European Women's Handball Championship in North Macedonia, she received a bronze medal, where she was also named "Best Defense Player".
Yekaterina Aleksandrovna Marennikova is a Russian handball player, world champion and olympic medallist playing for HC Kuban Krasnodar and the Russian national team. She won gold medals at the 2005 World Championships and 2016 Rio Olympics, placing second in 2008 and eighth in 2012.
Zvezda Zvenigorod is a Russian women's handball club from Zvenigorod, near Moscow. They won the Champions League and the Champions Trophy in 2008, and the EHF Cup in 2006/07. Between 2006 and 2011 the club was coached by Russian national team trainer Evgeny Trefilov. In the summer of 2011 he was replaced by head coach Zdravko Zovko.
