Yitzchok Sorotzkin

Avrohom Yitzchok Sorotzkin (born October 1945) is a prolific writer and former Rosh Yeshiva of Telshe yeshiva who delivers the most advanced Talmudic lecture at the Mesivta of Lakewood. He is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah (Council of Torah Sages). [1] [2] [3]

Biography

Sorotzkin is the son of Rabbi Baruch Sorotzkin, a Rosh Yeshiva in Telshe Yeshiva whose position he inherited. Due to controversy concerning the leadership of the Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland, Sorotzkin relocated to Lakewood, NJ.[ citation needed ] There he continues to teach students and publish his works.

Sorotzkin, in addition to having studied under his father, is also a student of Rabbi Berel Soloveitchik. [4]

Sorotzkin is the son-in-law of the late Rabbi Yecheskel Grubner, Chief Rabbi of Detroit. [5] Sorotzkin is also recognized world-wide as a lecturer and had delivered many keynote addresses and guest lectures. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]

Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah is the supreme rabbinical policy-making council of the Agudat Yisrael and Degel HaTorah movements in Israel; and of Agudath Israel of America in the United States. Members are usually prestigious Roshei Yeshiva or Hasidic rebbes, who are also usually regarded by many Haredi Jews to be the Gedolim ("great/est") sages of Torah Judaism. Before the Holocaust, it was the supreme authority for the World Agudath Israel in Europe.

Aryeh Malkiel Kotler is a Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) rabbi and rosh yeshiva (dean) of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey, one of the largest yeshivas in the world. He is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel of America.

Rabbi Berel Soloveichik (1915–1981) was a rabbi and the son of Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Soloveichik and one of the leading Rosh Yeshivas of the Brisk yeshivas in Jerusalem. He was a first cousin to Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, who was named after the Beis HaLevi, like himself. Rabbi Soloveichik was succeeded as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Brisk in Jerusalem by his son Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Soloveichik.

Yeshiva Pachad Yitzchok is a yeshiva in Jerusalem, Israel, established in the late 1970s by Rabbi Yitzchak Hutner in the Har Nof neighborhood. Hutner had served as the long-standing Rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin and Kollel Gur Aryeh in Brooklyn, New York City. Upon the death of Hutner in 1980, leadership of the yeshiva passed to his son-in-law, Rabbi Yonasan David who is the present Rosh Yeshiva. Rabbi Chaim Yitzchok Kaplan serves as the deputy Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Pachad Yitzchok.

Elya Brudny is an American Haredi rabbi. He serves as rosh yeshiva (dean) in the Mir Yeshiva in Brooklyn and is a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel of America.
