History

The club was founded in 1992. [2] They were promoted to the Welsh Football League from the South Wales Alliance Premier Division in 2019. [3]

They joined the newly formed Ardal Leagues for the 2020–21 season although the season was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The following season they finished second in the inaugural season of the Ardal Southwest. As league runners-up they played the runners-up of the Ardal Southeast in a playoff match for promotion to the tier 2 Cymru South, beating Abertillery Bluebirds 3–0. [4] They finished bottom of the Cymru South in the 2022–23 season and were relegated back into the Ardal Leagues.

Honours

Back in early 2024 Clayton Green of Penybont who at the time played for Pontypridd United stated to some of his students at Porth Community School that he had "never heard of Ynyshir Albions and wouldn't sign for them due to them being too many leagues below the level he was then playing at" (Ynyshir were top of the Ardel SW League at the time of the statement). However at the beginning of this season in the JD Cymru South although Green no longer plays for Pontypridd United due to him claiming "im too good for this team so im leaving" his previous statement came back to bite him. Ynyshir went on a short away day to Pontypridd with the result being 3-2

History

A number of other teams have historically existed in Ynyshir; Wattstown A.F.C, Ynyshir Rangers F.C, Ynyshir Albion F.C and Ynyshir United F.C. [7]

Ynyshir are also home to one of the biggest fanbases in the JD Cymru South League with the mighty Slugga. During Ynyshir's playoff win last season you can see slugga the ultra with a flare in hand celebrating as the win was confirmed. This photo has gone on to be placed in the Louvre in Paris due to how white his beautiful new teeth fresh from Turkey are. This can be confirmed on Instagram where a video has appeared with him dancing around with his new teeth for the dentist who is now blind in one eye after being dazzled by sluggas new set.
