MEDLINE is a bibliographic database of life sciences and biomedical information. It includes bibliographic information for articles from academic journals covering medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and health care. MEDLINE also covers much of the literature in biology and biochemistry, as well as fields such as molecular evolution.
BioMed Central (BMC) is a United Kingdom-based, for-profit scientific open access publisher that produces over 250 scientific journals. All its journals are published online only. BioMed Central describes itself as the first and largest open access science publisher. It was founded in 2000 and has been owned by Springer, now Springer Nature, since 2008.
PubMed is a free search engine accessing primarily the MEDLINE database of references and abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics. The United States National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health maintain the database as part of the Entrez system of information retrieval.
The Indian Pacing and Electrophysiology Journal (IPEJ), ISSN 0972-6292, is a peer reviewed online journal devoted to cardiac pacing and electrophysiology. Manuscript submission and peer review are entirely through electronic media to minimize delay in publication. Initially it was a quarterly publication. Currently it is a bimonthly publication. The Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals are followed.
Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is a comprehensive controlled vocabulary for the purpose of indexing journal articles and books in the life sciences. It serves as a thesaurus that facilitates searching. Created and updated by the United States National Library of Medicine (NLM), it is used by the MEDLINE/PubMed article database and by NLM's catalog of book holdings. MeSH is also used by ClinicalTrials.gov registry to classify which diseases are studied by trials registered in ClinicalTrials.
Horace Newton Allen was a missionary, physician, and American ambassador to Korea. Along with Robert Samuel Maclay, Allen was one of the first Western Protestant missionaries in Korea, arriving there on September 15, 1884.
PubMed Central (PMC) is a free digital repository that archives open access full-text scholarly articles that have been published in biomedical and life sciences journals. As one of the major research databases developed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), PubMed Central is more than a document repository. Submissions to PMC are indexed and formatted for enhanced metadata, medical ontology, and unique identifiers which enrich the XML structured data for each article. Content within PMC can be linked to other NCBI databases and accessed via Entrez search and retrieval systems, further enhancing the public's ability to discover, read and build upon its biomedical knowledge.
JAMA Internal Medicine is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal published by the American Medical Association. It was established in 1908 as the Archives of Internal Medicine and obtained its current title in 2013. It covers all aspects of internal medicine, including cardiovascular disease, geriatrics, infectious disease, gastroenterology, endocrinology, allergy, and immunology. The editor in chief is Rita F. Redberg.
Index Medicus (IM) is a curated subset of MEDLINE, which is a bibliographic database of life science and biomedical science information, principally scientific journal articles. From 1879 to 2004, Index Medicus was a comprehensive bibliographic index of such articles in the form of a print index or its onscreen equivalent. Medical history experts have said of Index Medicus that it is “America's greatest contribution to medical knowledge.”
BMC Medicine is a peer-reviewed electronic-only medical journal published since 2003 by BioMed Central which is part of Springer Nature. It is described as "the flagship medical journal of the BMC series. An open access, open peer-reviewed general medical journal, BMC Medicine publishes outstanding and influential research in all areas of clinical practice, translational medicine, medical and health advances, public health, global health, policy, and general topics of interest to the biomedical and sociomedical professional communities".
The Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine is a quarterly peer-reviewed open-access medical journal. It was established in October, 1928 and is the oldest medical student publication still being published. Since 2015, each issue covers a particular topic in biology, medicine, or public health, including experimental and clinical research. The journal's editorial board is composed of Yale University graduate, medical, and professional students. It is published on PubMed Central and is financially supported by the Yale Office of Medical Education.
International Journal of Hematology is the official journal of the Japanese Society of Hematology. Since 2008, it has been published by Springer Japan, but used to be published by Carden Jennings.

Experimental & Molecular Medicine is a monthly peer-reviewed open access medical journal covering biochemistry and molecular biology. It was established in 1964 as the Korean Journal of Biochemistry or Taehan Saenghwa Hakhoe Chapchi and published bi-annually. It was originally in Korean becoming an English-language journal in 1975. In 1994 the journal began publishing quarterly. It obtained its current name in 1996 at which time it also began publishing bi-monthly, switching to monthly in 2009. It is the official journal of the Korean Society for Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The editor-in-chief is Dae-Myung Jue. It is published by the Nature Publishing Group. Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal covering research in medical physics and biomedical engineering. It is the official journal of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine and is recognized as an official journal of the International Organization for Medical Physics, Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics and the Biomedical College of Engineers Australia.
Oliver R. Avison was a Canadian doctor, physician, humanitarian, missionary and professor, who spent over four decades spreading Western medical knowledge in Korea during the Kaehwagi or Enlightenment Period. Avison was recognized for founding and opening the Severance Hospital and the Severance Medical College in Seoul in 1904, two interlinked institutions that sought to treat the sick and expose the Korean natives to the practical teachings of Western medicinal sciences. Through fundraising efforts across North America prior to the opening, Avison received a series of donations from American philanthropist Louis H. Severance, the namesake for the teaching hospital.

Albin Garfield Anderson was an American medical missionary who served as a physician in Korea for 30 years and in Southern Rhodesia for 5 years. He founded the Swedish Methodist Hospital in 1913 in Wonju, Korea which is now the emergency room of Wonju Severance Christian Hospital. Anderson began his missionary work in 1911 serving with the United Methodist Church. During his time in Korea he served as physician, professor, and interim pastor to the people of Wonju and Pyongyang. After Korea was facing pressure from the Japanese empire, Anderson moved his services to Southern Rhodesia where he served as a physician at a community healthcare center and leprosy hospital.
