You'll be Fine has received generally positive reviews from contemporary music critics. Luke Nuttall writing for The Soundboard awarded the album a 7 out of 10 rating admitting that "Hot Mulligan haven't come out with a genre-defining opus", but noted that Youll Be Fine "can consistently keep up an emotional core that’s so much more real and an instrumental canvas that directly benefits it without sacrificing its overall melodiousness". [4] Ian Cohen, writing for Pitchfork gave the album a 6.7 out of 10 rating saying that the album's sound feels dated, and that it feels more like an early 2010's emo revival album. Cohen said of You'll be Fine that it "feels like a product of another era: itching to cross over, but without anywhere to cross over to". [2]

Something to Write Home About is the second studio album by American rock band the Get Up Kids, released on September 28, 1999, through Vagrant Records and the band's own label Heroes & Villains Records. Following the promotional tours for their debut album Four Minute Mile (1997), the band were in discussion with Mojo Records. During this period, James Dewees joined as the band's keyboardist. As negotiations with the label eventually stalled, they eventually went with Vagrant Records. They recorded their next album at Mad Hatter Studios in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, California, co-producing it with Chad Blinman and Alex Brahl. Described as an emo album, Something to Write Home About expands on the harder edge of its predecessor, with frontman Matt Pryor citing the works of the Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World and Wilco as influences.

The discography of the American rock and emo band American Football consists of three studio albums, two extended plays (EP), four singles and eight music videos. Because all three albums are eponymous, they are known as LP1, LP2, and LP3. The band was formed in 1997 in Urbana, Illinois, by Mike Kinsella, Steve Lamos, and Steve Holmes while they were students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A year later, they released a self-titled EP, followed by their debut studio album, American Football (LP1), in 1999. Shortly after, the band graduated from college, and not expecting the album to receive any attention, broke up.

Hot Milk is an English pop rock band based in Manchester. Additionally, they have been noted by Alternative Press as part of a new wave of artists in the Manchester music scene.
