Yung Wook Yoo (born December 27,1977) is a South Korean pianist, [1] winner of the Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition.
Born in Seoul on December 27,1977,Yoo started studying piano in South Korea and then moved to the United States to study at Juilliard Pre-College and then at the college section [2] under Martin Canin and later with Jerome Lowenthal. He later studied at the Manhattan School of Music. His graduate studies were supported by The Paul &Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans. Yoo won the first prize of the Kosciuszko Chopin Competition,the Montreal International Music Competition and the Grand Prize and Gold Medal of the Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition,Spain. Yoo has performed at the Wigmore Hall,Salle Pleyel,Carnegie Hall,National Auditorium of Music (Madrid),Palau de la Música (Barcelona),L'Auditori (Barcelona) and the Zurich Tonhalle. [4] He has also performed with the Spanish National Orchestra,Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra,Orchestra National de Lille,Orchestre National de France,Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra,Orquesta Ciudad de Malaga,Orquesta Nacional de la Republica Dominica and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife under conductors such as Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos,Pinchas Steinberg and Philippe Jordan. Julia Sakharova is a professional violinist. A native of Zheleznovodsk,Russia,she debuted at the age of eight with the Moldavian Symphony Orchestra. Her mother is also a musician. By the age of 11,she was already internationally known as a child prodigy due to her skills on the violin. At the age of 15,she won the top prize in the International Competition for Music of Eastern and Central Europe;Vladimir Spivakov,the head of the jury,presented her with his bow in addition to the prize. She attended Oberlin College,graduating in 2003 with a major in violin performance;she studied under Milan Vitek while there. That same year,she competed in the Concours International de Montréal des Jeunesses Musicales,and won sixth prize. In 2005,she visited Caracas,Venezuela to perform with the National Philharmonic Orchestra there. She has been Assistant Concertmaster of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 2008. Since 2012 Sakharova is the newest member of the Arianna String Quartet which is on Residence at the University of Missouri St. Louis. She is part of the Music Faculty as Associate Professor of Violin. In 2024,Sakharova was appointed Concertmaster with Orchestra Iowa.

Ramzi Yassa is an Egyptian pianist. Born in Cairo,Yassa is an outstanding member of the first batch of musicians trained at the Cairo Conservatory. Yassa then joined the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow in the class of Sergei Dorensky,where he earned an Honorary certificate after taking part in the 1974 Tchaikovsky competition. He then launched a concert career,settling in Paris. In 1977,he was the first Egyptian pianist to win a major piano competition—the 'Paloma O'Shea' Santander International Piano Competition.

Founded in 1972 by Paloma O'Shea as a national prize,it turned into an international competition in its 2nd edition,and was professionalized in the mid-1970s,being accepted into the World Federation of International Music Competitions in 1976.
