Zach Reid (born 2 March 2002) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for Essendon in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by the Essendon with the 10th draft pick in the 2020 AFL draft. [1] [2] [3]
Reid came from Leongatha, [4] [5] where he played for the Leongatha Football Club in the Gippsland Football League. [6] [7] He played 36 games for the club between 2017 and 2020, kicking 35 goals in that time. [8] He played for the Gippsland Power in the NAB League, alongside future draftees Caleb Serong and Sam Flanders, [9] after previously playing for them in the Under 16 squads. [10] He played 15 games with the Power, averaging 11 disposals, 4 marks and 2 tackles a game. [11]
Reid stated that he based his playing style off that of All-Australian Harris Andrews. [12] Reid debuted in the 5th round of the 2021 AFL season, in the Essendon's 57 point loss to Brisbane Lions. [13] [14] [15] On debut, Reid collected 10 disposals, 1 mark and 5 tackles. [16]
Suffering from a stress injury in his back, Reid finished his debut season with one senior game and managed a further seven in 2022 due to a foot injury. [17]
A hamstring injury in July 2023 while playing in the VFL ended Reid's season early with no further senior level AFL games played. [18]

Patrick Ryder is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon, Port Adelaide and St Kilda Football Clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Ryder was noted for his speed, agility and leap for someone of his size and it was these attributes that had his first AFL coach in Kevin Sheedy comparing him to Indigenous Australian rules football star Graham "Polly" Farmer. Ryder's father, Revis Ryder, played football for East Fremantle.
Scott Pendlebury is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He served as Collingwood captain from 2014 to 2022. Pendlebury is a dual premiership player, also winning the Norm Smith Medal as best on ground in the 2010 grand final replay, and was the AFLCA champion player of the year in 2013. He is a six-time All-Australian and five-time Copeland Trophy winner, and is the Collingwood games record holder with 403 games. Pendlebury is the league record holder for disposals, handballs and tackles, and also has the most Brownlow Medal votes of any player who has not won the award.
Dyson Heppell is an Australian rules footballer who currently plays for the Port Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Elijah Tsatas is an Australian footballer who plays for Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected as the fifth pick in the 2022 AFL Draft. Essendon rejected several lucrative offers in favour of selecting Tsatas. Tsatas is friends with fellow 2022 draftee George Wardlaw, with whom he has played football since he was a child. Prior to selection, Tsatas suffered a serious foot injury that prevented him from playing for three months. He eventually recovered in time to score well in games before being interviewed for the draft. Tsatas is a midfielder-wingman who is described as a player who "can run and carry, has a knack of finding space at stoppages, and has good disposal". Tsatas was showing good form in his first preseason with the Essendon Football Club, but then suffered an acute meniscus tear in his knee in late Jan 23 during a training session, that required surgery and saw him miss the start of the AFL season. After recovering from the injury, Tsatas made his debut with the Essendon VFL team in round 11, playing 3 quarters and registering a goal with his first kick in the VFL, 18 disposals and 4 marks.
