Shashi Kapoor was an Indian actor and film producer who is best known for his works in Hindi films. A recipient of several accolades, including four National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards, he also featured in a number of English-language international films, particularly films produced by Merchant Ivory. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 2011, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, in 2014, for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Deewaar is a 1975 Indian action crime drama film written by Salim–Javed and directed by Yash Chopra. Released worldwide on 24 January 1975, the film stars an ensemble cast of Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, Nirupa Roy, Iftekhar, Madan Puri, Satyen Kappu and Manmohan Krishna. The music was composed by R. D. Burman. The film tells the story of a pair of impoverished brothers who, after their family is betrayed by the misplaced idealism of their father, struggle to survive in the slums of Mumbai, and eventually find themselves on opposing sides of the law. The title Deewaar ("wall") signifies the wall that has sprung up between the two brothers, drawn apart by fate and circumstances in a time of socio-political turmoil.
Parwana is a 1971 Indian Hindi-language psychological thriller film directed by Jyoti Swaroop. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Navin Nischol, Yogeeta Bali, Om Prakash in lead roles and Shatrughan Sinha in a special appearance. In this film, Amitabh Bachchan plays his first negative role as an infatuated lover-turned-murderer.

The title of the movie is based on the Hindi phrase, which refers to the bare necessities of life, popularized in the late 1960s by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, ahead of the 1967 general elections.

Parvarish (transl. Upbringing) is a 1977 Hindi-language crime drama film directed by Manmohan Desai, starring Shammi Kapoor, with Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna as two brothers playing oneupmanship, and Neetu Singh and Shabana Azmi as their love interests. The latter four had previously starred, earlier that same year, in Desai's own Amar Akbar Anthony, the highest-grossing film of the year.

Reshma Aur Shera is a 1971 Hindi crime drama film produced and directed by Sunil Dutt and starring Waheeda Rehman as Reshma and Sunil Dutt as Shera. The film was a huge hit at the box-office and became the fourth highest-grosser of 1980, behind Qurbani, Asha and Ram Balram. Dostana was one of the last successful films directed by Raj Khosla. The film was remade in Tamil as Sattam with Kamal Haasan.
