The Filmfare Best Villain Award was given by Filmfare as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi films, to recognise an actor who had delivered an outstanding performance in a negative role. Although the awards started in 1954, this category was first introduced in 1992 and has been marked as obsolete since 2007.

This was Chiranjeevi's second film in Bollywood. The film explores the concepts of exploitation by anti-social elements and the impact of crowd psychology. Chiranjeevi's 2nd Hindi film happened in 1992. Meenakshi Sheshadri played his heroine in the film. Aaj Ka Goonda Raaj was the remake of Chiranjeevi's own All Time Blockbuster Gang Leader (1991). The film was a good success at the box office but couldn't repeat the same blockbuster business like the original. Its 8th top grosser of that year at the Boxoffice.
