Zaporizhzhya Titanium-Magnesium Plant is the only [1] manufacturer of titanium sponge [2] in Europe. [3] ZTMP (or ZTMK) [4] is located in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine, and the plant produces titanium ingots, as well as slabs that are widely used as a structural material in nuclear power, chemical engineering, shipbuilding, and many other industries.

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station in southeastern Ukraine is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and among the 10 largest in the world. It was built by the Soviet Union near the city of Enerhodar, on the southern shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir on the Dnieper river. It is operated by Energoatom, who also operate Ukraine's other three nuclear power stations.

Enerhodar is a city and municipality in the north-western part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast in Ukraine, currently under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. It is on the south bank of the Dnieper river, on the opposite side of the Kakhovka Reservoir from Nikopol and Chervonohryhorivka. Its main industry is electricity generation, at a thermal power station and a large nuclear power station. In 2021 its population was 52,887, about 11,000 of whom work at the nuclear power station.

Located in Verkhnyaya Salda, Russia, VSMPO-AVISMA also operates facilities in Ukraine, England, Switzerland, Germany, United States and poselok Beryozovsky. The company produces titanium, aluminum, magnesium and steel alloys. VSMPO-AVISMA does a great deal of business with aerospace companies around the world, such as Boeing and Airbus.

Russian is the most common first language in the Donbas and Crimea regions of Ukraine and the city of Kharkiv, and the predominant language in large cities in the eastern and southern portions of the country. The usage and status of the language is the subject of political disputes. Ukrainian is the country's only state language since the adoption of the 1996 Constitution, which prohibits an official bilingual system at state level but also guarantees the free development, use and protection of Russian and other languages of national minorities. Dmytro Vasylovych Firtash is a Ukrainian businessman who heads the board of directors of Group DF. He was highly influential during the Yuschenko administration and the Yanukovych administration. As a middleman for the Russian natural gas giant Gazprom and with connections to the Kremlin, Firtash funneled money into the campaigns of pro-Russia politicians in Ukraine. Firtash obtained his position with the agreement of Russian president Vladimir Putin and, according to Firtash, Russian organized crime boss Semion Mogilevich.

Titanium Sponge Plant of India is located at Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML), Chavara, Kollam district of Kerala. Titanium sponge plant is a manufacturing plant which produces titanium sponge, a material which has very useful applications in space programme and other strategic areas like aeronautics, light defence vehicles etc. The plant in India is the only one in the world which can undertake all the different activities of manufacturing aerospace grade titanium sponge under one roof. The material is an alloy product which is produced through Kroll process which includes leaching or heated vacuum distillation to make the metal almost 99.7% pure.

Renewable energy in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the share of renewables within the total energy mix is less than 5%. In 2020 10% of electricity was generated from renewables; made up of 5% hydro, 4% wind, and 1% solar. Biomass provides renewable heat.

The New Zaporizhzhia Dniper Bridge is an under-construction road closed access highway bridge in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine. Construction of the bridge began in August 2004 with the first span of the bridge opened to public use in January 2022 after years of delays. The bridge was opened in a public ceremony on January 22, 2022, by President Volodymyr Zelensky. When completed, the bridge will stand at a height of 166 meters, making it the tallest in Ukraine and the eight tallest in Europe.
