Zarina Jamal is a former badminton player from Pakistan. A former national champion, [1] she is currently (2019) the country's only female badminton coach. [2]

Career

National

Jamal was the 1994 national champion when the nationals were held in Lahore. [3]

International

At the World Badminton Championships held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1991, Jamal was to compete in the singles and mixed double events. However, she did not compete in it. [4]

In 1993, Jamal was part of the three member team with Afshan Shujah, and Shamim Akhtar, which won all three titles at the 1st Women's Islamic Games held in Tehran, Iran. She won gold in singles, doubles with partner Afshan Shujah and team events. [5] The same year, she competed in singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles at the World Badminton Championships in Birmingham, UK. [6]

In 1995, she competed in the singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles events at the World Badminton Championships held in Laussane, Switzerland where she lost in the round of 128 (second round) in all three events. [7]

She officially became an Australian citizen in 2014. She was selected to join the national team compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. She was four times women's doubles Oceania champions from 2017 to 2020 with her partner Gronya Somerville, also two times champion in the mixed doubles event in 2017 and 2018 alongside Sawan Serasinghe.

Dorcas Ajoke Adesokan is a Nigerian badminton player. She has shown her talent at a young age, by winning two gold medals at the 2014 African Youth Games. In 2019, she won the women's singles and doubles title at the African Championships. She competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics, by achieving the best women's singles ranking on the African continent in the Race to Tokyo rankings.

Doha Hany Mostafa is an Egyptian badminton player. She started playing badminton at aged five, and joined the national team in 2013. She won the bronze medal at the 2014 African Youth Games, and represented her country at the Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China. She was the women's doubles gold medalist at the 2019 African Games. Hany featured in Egypt team that for the first time won the All Africa Women's Team Championships in 2020, also claimed two titles in the individual competition by winning the women's and mixed doubles event. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in three different events; women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

Nangsal Devi Tamang is a Nepalese badminton player. In 2014, she competed at the Incheon Asian Games in the women's singles event but was defeated by Bellaetrix Manuputty of Indonesia in the first round. In 2016, she won the mixed doubles title at the Pakistan International tournament with her siblings Ratnajit. She also was the third place in the women's singles. After won the Pakistan International, the siblings received the Zest honours. At the national event, she plays for the Tribuvan Army Club, and at the Pushpa Lal Memorial National Open Badminton Championships, she won the women's singles and doubles event.

Georges Julien Paul is a Mauritian badminton player. Paul took part at the 2014 African Youth Games, and won three gold medals in the individual event. He was part of the national team that won the gold medal at the 2015 African Games. Paul won the men's singles title at the 2018 and 2020 African Championships.

Kristen Tsai is a Taiwanese born Canadian badminton player. She is the women's doubles champion at the 2019 Pan American Games, fifth time Pan Am Champion winning the women's singles title in 2012, and then the women's doubles title in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.
