Zavier Didier Tapei Gozo (born March 22, 2007) is an American professional soccer player who plays as an forward for Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake.

Club career

Gozo is a youth product of Comba FC and La Roca FC, before signing with the academy of Real Salt Lake in 2021. [2] On 14 December 2022, he signed his first professional contract with Real Monarchs in the MLS Next Pro. [3] On 13 October 2023, he was called up to RSL for his first Major League Soccer match. He debuted with Real Salt Lake in a 2–2 Major League Soccer tie with LA Galaxy on 15 October 2023. [4] On 20 February 2024 he signed a contract with Real Salt Lake in the MLS until 2027, with an option to extend until 2029. [5]

International career

Born in the United States, Zoho was born to an Ivorian father and American mother. [6] He was part of the United States U20s that finished as runners-up at the 2024 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. [7]

Personal life

Gozo is a member of the LDS Church. [6]

RSL entered the 2021 season looking to rebound from a tumultuous 2020 season, having finished near the bottom of the table and endured the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic continued to have a significant impact on MLS in 2021, causing the season's start to be delayed to mid-April instead of the traditional first weekend in March, a reworked schedule that focused heavily on intra-conference play to reduce travel, and stadiums at reduced capacity. The state of Utah allowed RSL to open the season with Rio Tinto Stadium at 50% capacity. The 2021 Major League Soccer season began on April 16, 2021, though RSL did not begin their season until the following week, April 24, having had a bye in the opening weekend due to the odd number of teams in MLS in 2021.

The 2022 Real Salt Lake season was the team's 18th year of existence, and their 18th consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top division of the American soccer pyramid.
