The National Rugby League Western Australia (NRLWA) is responsible for administering the game of rugby league football in the state of Western Australia.

In 2009 the Melbourne Storm from Victoria, was admitted to the competition. In 2010 the competition continued its national growth with the introduction of the WA Reds / West Coast Pirates from Perth.

Harold Matthews Cup

The NSWRL Harold Matthews Cup is a junior rugby league competition played in New South Wales between teams made up of players aged under 16. The competition is administered by the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL). The competition is made up of NSW-based clubs and includes both junior representative teams of the elite National Rugby League (NRL) and clubs and academies that do not field teams in the NRL competition.

The 2008 National Rugby League season consisted of 26 weekly regular season rounds, starting on 14 March, followed by four weeks of play-offs, culminating in a Grand Final on 5 October.
