She is the first and only badminton player to have ever won two gold medals in the same Olympic edition, winning in both the mixed and women's doubles categories in 2012. Zhao joins the ranks with nine other players with two Olympic gold medals, the highest number of gold medals won by any badminton player. Through her performance at the 2014 and 2015 BWF World Championships, she became the first player to win two consecutive gold medals in two consecutive BWF World Championships.

Lyudmyla Yuriïvna Lusnikova is a Ukrainian judoka, who played for the extra-lightweight category (48 kg). At age eighteen, Lusnikova made her official debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where she reached into the semi-final rounds, losing out to Japan's Ryoko Tani. She qualified for the repechage bout, after finding out that her previous opponent made further into the final round. In the second round of repechage bouts, Lusnikova was defeated by China's Zhao Shunxin, who scored a yuko to win a match at the closing time of four minutes.
