Zhenhengia yiwuensis is a species of strictly anaerobic, non-motile, Gram-positive rod-shaped bacteria that represents the sole validly published species of the genus Zhenhengia . [2] It was first isolated from a healthy human fecal sample during a large-scale culturomics study of the Chinese gut microbiota and effectively published in 2021 [3] [1]
The genus Zhenhengia (feminine; stem *Zhenhengi-*) honours the Ming-dynasty physician Zhenheng Zhu (朱震亨). The species epithet yiwuensis refers to Yiwu, Zhu’s birthplace in Zhejiang Province, China. [2]
