Zoheb Hassan (born November 18, 1966) is a Pakistani pop icon and was a part of the duo Nazia and Zoheb.

Early career and breakthrough

Zoheb and his sister Nazia spent their childhood in Karachi as well as London.

After the release of their first album, Disco Deewane, Nazia and Zoheb became the South-Asian sub-continent's first pop icons.[ citation needed ] Several successful albums established the duo's status as pioneers of pop music in the region. They sold over 85 million records worldwide and topped the charts in several countries, including South Africa, Guatemala, Colombia, Venezuela, etc.

Zoheb is a singer, songwriter and producer. His ballad "Chehra" is considered a core romantic anthem to this day. He has received 12 gold, 4 platinum and 2 double platinum discs in his music career. He is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the United Nations Association of Pakistan and an award from Oxford University for Achievements in the field of South Asian Music. He took some time off from music after Nazia's demise to concentrate on his family business in Pakistan and the UK. Zoheb is married to Gina, who is a writer and has three children Allyana, Mia and Azmere.

His latest album, SIGNATURE, [1] was released in 2017, in collaboration with EMI Pakistan and Sa Re Ga Ma (in India). [2] [3] In an interview with Express Tribune, Zoheb reminisces, "Signature actually contains the last track that Nazia Hassan sung. Unfortunately she fell ill and plans for an album were put on hold." He also revealed that Nazia had sung alternate versions of "Koi Nahi", "Disco Deewane" and "Boom Boom" - all three of which have been put into one song in Signature. "The album revolves around my experiences and all that I and my family have experienced over the last 10 years or so," he added. He plans a documentary and released the album's first music video, 'Always On My Mind', the track bringing to mind, the original Always on My Mind. [4] The title is in English, but the lyrics are in Urdu. The music video features Zoheb himself, and portrays a celebrity's life, who loses out on his family life after his climb to success. [5]

They are regarded as pioneers of the Pakistani pop and Indi-pop scenes, and were one of the most successful Asian pop duos of all time, selling more than 65 million albums worldwide.

Biddu Appaiah is an Indian-born, England-based singer-songwriter, composer, and music producer – who composed and produced many worldwide hit records during a career spanning five decades. Considered one of the pioneers of disco, Euro disco, and Indian pop, he has sold millions of records worldwide, and has received an Ivor Novello award for his work. He has been ranked at number 34 on NME 's "The 50 Greatest Producers Ever" list.

Nazia Hassan Pakistani singer

Nazia Hassan was a Pakistani pop singer-songwriter, lawyer and social activist. She started her music career at the age of 10, and became one of the most prominent singers of Pakistan. She enjoyed widespread popularity across South and Southeast Asia and has been called the "Queen of Pop" in South Asia. She, along with her brother Zoheb Hassan, went on to sell over 65 million records worldwide. Her English language single Dreamer Deewane made her the first Pakistani singer to make it to the British charts. In the middle of her successful singing career, Hassan earned degrees in economics and law at two prestigious London schools, Richmond, The American International University and the University of London.

Disco Deewane is a 1981 Pakistani pop–disco album sung by Pakistani duo Nazia and Zoheb, consisting of Nazia Hassan and her brother Zoheb Hassan. The music was mostly composed by Indian producer Biddu. It charted in fourteen countries worldwide and became the best-selling Asian pop record to-date. It changed trends in music across South Asia, where it broke sales records. In India, it sold 100,000 records within a day of its release in Mumbai alone, went Platinum within three weeks, and went Double-Platinum soon after. Disco Deewane went on to sell 14 million units worldwide.

"Aap Jaisa Koi" is a song from the soundtrack of the 1980 Bollywood film Qurbani. It was the debut song of Pakistani singer Nazia Hassan, and was composed by Indian producer Biddu. Music direction was by Kalyanji Anandji. The song was featured in the film as an item number, picturised on Zeenat Aman. It has been remixed and sampled by many other artists.

Noor Hassan is a Pakistani model, actor and director. He has acted in Pakistani television drama serials, including Aseerzadi, Humsafar, Maat, Mah-e-Tamam, Shanakht, Ladies Park and many others.
